I like brook, before i didnt.. i have him tied for 3rd spot on my p4p welterweight. but he's really gotta fight some better comp before we judge him to much. he beat porter and that's pretty much all besides a bunch of domestic guys no one ever heard of. One thing that urks me is instead of Bradley or Rios he goes for the guy they both beat in Chaves.. Lame but i don't blame him.. politics politics politics..
Not totally sold on Thurman he was using an awful lot of ring against Collazo. He looked like khan. he can be wide open when throwing the left hook and his power has started to not look as impressive lately maybe hand injuries?when stepped up against decent competition. I could see Brook finding some gaps and landing his shots and getting a win. Think he might be the bigger man in the ring to but its a 50/50 fight. Brooks low calibre of opposition means that he might not be ready for a Thurman who has been in with some good (if not great) fighter but hes list of wins other than Porter is far better than Brookes.
First off he did go for Rios, and Rios ducked the fight. Secondly, they have and are negotiating with Bradley but he gets 2 million for fighting the likes of Vargas, for fighting Brook he'd probably want at least half a million more and Brook would want a fair bit too. For that fight to happen they would need HBO and Sky Box Office backing. HBO probably aren't willing to spend a lot on a afternoon spot for the fight to happen in the UK, Sky would unlikely put Brook on PPV at 4am. So that's stumbling block. But you mention Brook's opposition here, who has Thurman fought? At the time they fought them, Brook has fought 3 guys ranked in the rings top 10 (Jackeweiz, Senchenko & Porter) and Thurman 1 (Guerrero). So why do you not say Thurman needs to prove himself before we judge him?
Says the most anti Brook person on this forum who compares Brook fighting his mandatory (Dan) & a guy who would currently be facing Bizier in a final eliminator at a months notice (Gavin) to Wilder's defences against far far far far inferior opposition to Dan and Gavin, who was not mandatories nor would they ever be mandatories. You also act like Brook is ducking all these fights offered to him yet Khan turned him down, Mayweather ignored him despite throwing his name in the hat to fight him, Marquez turned him down, Maidana turned him down. And as of now Bundu, Khan, Bradley, Porter, Ali and Alexander all rejected going into final eliminators to be his mandatory. And I'm sure Al Haymon and Bob Arum are itching to give their mega stars a fight against The Special One. :hi:
Brook will soon be the king of the voluntaries. I mean he already is the king of "one more and then a big name after..". Just because they turned him down doesn't mean they think they can't beat him. They could be well out of shape. So what's the plan after Chaves? ANOTHER mandatory?
So who do you suggests he fights who would also be happy to fight him. Haymon and Arum don't want their superstars exposed by Brook. There is a thing called risk reward in boxing. Now you are going to go on a tirade about Chaves being a bum, but I'm sure it would be fine if Khan fought him.
