Hearn and DAZN is failing badly in the USA. Here Ultra Tech delivers it raw and without **** on Hearn.

Essentially, all the big fighters are with Al Hayman and all the loyalty is with him. Hearn set himself up for failure by going over there and insulting Al Hayman, and playing billy big in a market he doesn’t understand.

We can tell he didn’t understand the market based on the contract that was leaked!

I can’t stand listening to that guys videos as he is far too anti Hearn to be objective, so I will give it a pass.

It’s too early to give an answer as to whether Hearn will succeed yet.

However, it’s not been a great start at all for Hearn in the US as I said in a thread I started yesterday.

Because of his lack of US based signings he is now having to prop up his cards with average Britsh fighters like Tommy Coyle, Hosea Burton, Quigg and even Katie Taylor.

Non of these fighters are going to pursuade Americans to pay for DAZN.

If BJS does his usual pullout crap then that will blow a hole in an already wafer thin schedule.

I heard somewhere that Hearn was looking to employee big time US based boxing advisors - I hope he does, as he needs them badly to get this off the ground.

When he was first talking about signing fighters, of all the massive names mentioned he got none of them.

The fighters he did sign are ok but certainly lacks a star.

Can't say for sure until we have had a number of shows at least. There's a lot of money behind it, and this doesn't look like it's comparable to the "drain a hedgefund" scam we've seen fail before.
It might very well fail, but it's too soon to make an educated guess either way.

Dragon Punch - summed it up best.

Far to early to tell, Ultra tech just should and screams about anything negative, I cant bare listening to his videos anymore if i am honest.

I wouldn't even say its anti hearn tho he seems to go in just as much on warren.

I will say yes, simply because America has moved on from boxing. Its not Eddie's fault, but boxing just isn't the sport it once was over there. Where as Britain is experiencing a real boom in boxing, Eddie has profited from that.

Ultratech cam be a good laugh at times but his anti-hearn bias is obvious, and frankly off putting, I like unbiased opinions.

45 minute anti-hearn rants every fortnight gets old. And he's one of those who lauds frank which is just laughable if you know Frank's history.

As far as DAZN, it's far too early to tell, it's a tough market to break into because quite frankly there just isn't enough appetite for boxing in the US to split it all up into so many different platforms.

But at the end of the day Hearn got offered big money to give it a crack so that's what he's doing

Personally as long as the UK shows don't suffer for it I could give a **** about the US market.

    Yup.

Americans love the WWE style presentation of the UFC, as Jim Cornette who was a bigwig in wrestling back in the day said, the UFC today is what the WWF was in the late 90s.

The US doesn't breed boxing talent at anywhere near the rate it used to, boxing isn't seen as "cool" by the youth anymore and frankly its dying out over there.

20 years ago Wilder would have been the biggest star in boxing and AJ would be begging for his scraps. These days the roles are reversed

And if the yanks arent dominating, frankly, they aren't interested.

Far too early to say. Will depend on many factors beyond Hearn. What other rights can they secure? How stable is their platform? Do they have sufficient reserves to finance the acquisition phase? What do their competitors do? What happens when the promotional contracts of existing top talent starts to expire? Lots of questions, answers as yet unclear except for the one blindingly obvious point that it's a little early to be writing the epitaph before the product has even launched?

    Ultra makes a good point.

How the hell is Hearn going to attract all top US fighters away from Al Hayman and US TV deals?

There is a real loyalty there.

Hearn also doesn’t understand how US fighters contracts are done and the reward system. It’s not as straight forward as the U.K. system.

To which the obvious answer is how long can PBC continue to pay these contracts whilst haemmoraging money? The current model is not sustainable and will inevitably either disappear or change beyond recognition. Just think of showtime, will they continue to have the same amount to invest as more people cut the cable?

    Yup.

It's ok for those fighters to have loyalty but how long can Haymon keep paying top $$$ to put these guys on shows in 2000 seat arenas.

It's easy to hate Hearn and laud Haymon but AL is not doing a good job of promoting most of his fighters. The PBC model is awful and he doesn't have Floyd around to generate massive sums anymore.

Hearn did underestimate the tribalism amongst African American Boxers though.

DAZN is not a streaming boxing service. It's success or failure in the US will not be decided by boxing.

What it will need is the staple sports that Americans watch.

Being backed by a billionaire means they can play the long game.

I doubt they expect to crack the US market straight away as they need to wait until certain sports right become available.

Al has lost a boat load of cash and in essence his approach has failed.
Eddie hasn't even started yet. He's got a billion dollars and 5 years before we can answer the OP with any accuracy. Eddie will pull it off imo

Time will tell but if they can make it work I would be suprised. PBC was on free tv and hasn't exactly set the world alight.
