Benn is a no Taylor (one of the top P4P fighters and former commonwealth Gold medalist. What next criticising Benn because he hasnt become a WC after 3 fights like Loma? As pointed out two of the British forum favourite fighters in Wilder and Fury didn't fight for a title until they older than Benn is now and had more fights. Again I see nothing wrong with a fighter having confidence in his ability and wanting to fight the best. Neither do I see anything wrong in Hearn hyping his young fighter with potential. Neither do see anything wrong with Benns team picking opponents for him that have gone up in quality in the past 4 fights as long as he continues to do so.
Earn has all the PPV Mugths convinced Benn will be a UK all time great - hope for his sake he is not Eddie the Eagle 2
This thread isn't about your favourite deflection tactic of Tyson Fury. It is about Eddie Hearn and Conor Benn. Discuss the issue at hand rather than skirting around it via a 3rd, irrelevant to the situation, party. Hearn and Benn continue to deceive and Benn will be the loser when he finds out that he really isn't a World Titlist, due to his poor resume to date, when some mid 20s fighter who can defend and punch back banjo's him. The gap from his current "scalps" to where he thinks he should be will be too great a gap. He needs to bridge that gap, that is all we are asking for at this moment in time. Bud, Spence, Ortiz, Ennis, Ava and Taylor when he moves up all win with ease. He needs to fight some Top 15s like the unbeaten (20-0) Crowley of Canada who is Top 15 in The Ring #10, the IBF #14, WBO #6 and WBC #15. He is #6 in the WBO to Benn's #7. At least they have identical records regards wins and rankings. This would be a start. But yeah, "PPV Baby!".
Aside from Avanesyan, Ortiz and Ennis there's still plenty of live opponents Benn could fight but Hearn flatly refuses and keeps mooting around the likes of Broner and Guerrero. Kavaliauskas - 33, knocked out Avanesyan, gave Crawford a very tough fight 2 years ago Sandor Martin - just beat Mikey Garcia, signed with Matchroom, ranked #4 with the WBO Besputin, Buatev, Crowley, Stanionis... the list goes on. I've noticed Benn's new favourite line is 'I'm ranked top 5 with all the governing bodies' ... just looked and he's 7 with the WBO, 6 with the IBF and not in the WBC rankings.
Maybe Conor Benn learned something from Eddie Hearn ? You just have to keep repeating the lie and people will believe it in the end.
In a way, I can not help but feel sorry for Conor Benn. He has been put under a huge pressure of expectations by Eddie Hearn. Can his young shoulders withstand this pressure ?
@aaaaa why such strong hate for Benn? You can't expect any promoter to be putting their favourite prospect in with Ennis or Ortiz Jr for no reason!
I'm well aware of that, but it may well be that Conor Benn is not as good as Eddie Hearn says ? It is quite clear that Conor Benn is being driven into a position to take over after AJ, but the jury is still out on whether Conor Benn will become a legend.
This forum has hated on Benn since his very first fight. He's made improvements in every fight but it's not enough. People have wanted him to fail since day one. It's way too early to say if he's going to be a "legend" but he is on the right path. Of course Hearn is going to big him up. It's his job ffs. Same with Benn himself, he's not going to start doubting himself, he's going to talk like he's the best thing since sliced bread lol I would expect nothing less. This is the fighting game, everyone thinks there the best and rightly so. I for one am enjoying following his career. Hope he goes far and gets a world title.
I agree man. I really don't understand the hate/dislike for Benn. Hes improved loads, is upping the opponents at the right speed for his limited amateur career, is exciting to watch, dedicated. It's an interesting journey so far. A lot of his haters seem to be Khans sensitive asian fans. Who hate that hes called out and said things about their beloved Khan. Well if a past it great in Barrera can face a young Khan who'd just been iced in 50 seconds to a unknown Colombian , then young Benn can certainly can face Amere Con now!
I by no means hate Conor Benn but wish him all the best in boxing and hope he becomes a success story.
