For him its actually win situation. If he beat Joshua he earn twice and probably second fight much more than he will in IBF fight wich is btw not even sure soo quick. I know that sucks in sport way for sure but end of the day he got chance from Anthony and they dont need fight with him. We all are disaponted but Otto himself agre to that and he is probably happy.
But he fights actual boxers and he won his last fight, unlike your idol who either ducks or fights opponents who never boxed before . Your boy got dropped and lost his last fight to mma guy ,what happened to his confidence ??
I think rematch clauses for matchroom fighters are a big problem in the HW division, but I'm inclined to agree that it's not really a bad thing for all parties involved here all things considered. At least Wallin will secure two big bags if he wins the first fight, and the division is log jammed currently so Wallin would just be sitting around for a long time doing nothing anyways.
Personally I don't like it when a mandatory is made to have a rematch clause Normal fights, that's up to the fighters and I have no issue if it doesn't hold up a division
Postfight interview: "You were out cold for a while there Anthony, what do you remember of the knockout?" "You're not my promoter, where's my promoter?"
The Bodybuilder probably has a rematch clause when he plays Trivial Pursuit with the family at Christmas.
Let’s be honest is anybody truly surprised that Hearn has a one way rematch clause in Joshua’s favour drafted into the contract ? Rematch contracts if at all should be for Champions only however Hearn has made it so that it’s the only way to get the Joshua fight. Hearn also did the same for Whyte in the Povetkin fight. Being contractually obliged to have to beat a fighter twice before being able to move on with your career is wrong and needs to be addressed by all the sanctioning bodies .
Imagine you train your backside off for months, in the pursuit of a dream you've had for years, possibly since childhood, you get everything right on put on the performance of a lifetime... You beat the champ/the A side guy, you're ready to start your reign or enjoy a nice spell of earning good money, only to be told you've gotta repeat the feat to be able to move on with your career. Pathetic. For a long reigning champion, I wouldn't mind them being permitted a rematch as a second defence, but the first defence should be against a contender, so you don't have guys sitting on the sidelines for years waiting for their shot, playing it safe by fighting soft opposition. These rematch clauses are a big cause of the stagnation in boxing
So what happens if Wallin does win? Joshua blames Davison, sacks him and gets James back in for the rematch?
