Hearns once considered fighting Mike Tyson in 1990-91

He said he would if Tyson came down to 200 pounds. Emmanuel Stewart talked him out of it as Stewart thought it was a bad idea.

 

Lol I'm glad Tommy saw sense.
But I really don't think Mike would have gone through with a fight like that.
Wouldn't have been a fight, would have been a massacre..

 

Now if Jake Paul had being around back then, he'd have jumped at the chance to fight Tommy.
But not Tyson lol

That was in thew boxing magazines at the time. It sounded silly then.

 

I remember Tommy contemplating this in KO magazine in 1991 after beating Virgil Hill.

He'sld discarded Steward as a trainer before that fight as Emmanuel wanted 40% of Tommy's earnings and was hardnosed about it

Plus after the first Barkley fight Steward seemed to spend a lot of time saying things like he wouldn't let Hearns spar with Moorer or ' the young guys' and generally passively downplaying him.

Tommy's blip in 1988 was dramatic but he wasn't a totally spent force as the SRL rematch and Hill fight showed.

 

Drugs are bad.

 

He would have been plastered by Hearns. And Mike Tyson would have made ashes out of him.

 

Tommy starched guys at Light Heavy and even Cruiser that were better than Jake Paul

 

Yes he KO d Dennis Andries and beat Virgil Hill.
