We're half way through the 8th month of the year and it makes grim reading so far, one or two fights aside and with the obvious requirement for the juniors (very old juniors in JJ's case) to get some easyish fights in. Even so, it looks rough. Wilder against a fella who has dropped out of the top 10 rapidly. T Fury against a total bum. Whyte/Rivas would have been worthy but that fight has to have a line drawn through it till the facts come out.. I think it has been a decent year for Dubois and Joyce who have moved in the right direction. Hughie fighting Povetkin is a big positive and I think it's easy to dismiss fights like Allen v Price but on paper it was an evenly matched, intriguing fight. Fury has been the worst in terms of match ups. Two completely pathetic non entities after the high of last year's comeback. This is a man who calls himself lineal champion and has only beaten Seferi, Pianeta and Schwarz in the last four years.
Yeah, nothing against Dubois and Joyce and with 3 fights each they've provided 1/5th of the action from the 31 fights in total.
Heavyweight boxing is a dangerous sport and not many people are willing to mix it. Wilder and Joshua couldn’t agree a unification. Fury withdrew from a mandatory shot at Wilder. Whyte withdrew from a big money fight against AJ. Ruiz turned down the AJ fight. Wilder continued to avoid Whyte. And so on. These are the elite fighters too. Never mind the lesser ones.
Negative. Wilder is not avoiding Whyte......after Ortiz gets dismantled and if he cannot get a Unification match with Ruiz who is laying out AJ again Whyte will be put out of his misery in a short fight where he gets face planted hard......if you eat right hands for a living you are going to sleep against Wilder, guaranteed, replay of Breazale fight, maybe a round longer.
I hear what you’re saying - only two fights of any significance so far this year for a UK fan - Joshua vs Ruiz (although only significant after the event) & Dubois Gorman. Having said that, if you think of years gone by - practically the whole decade up to 2010 in fact, two meaningful HW fights in a year involving British fighters is pretty good. On a world level however, maybe a little disappointing.
Negative. Wilder is 100 per cent avoiding Whyte, all evidence, and actions support that notion. Words don't mean ****, actions speak louder than words. Wilder aka ducksquad aka "make you (dillian) wait two years" aka "let me rematch Ortiz, then kownacki and ignore the #1 contender who has been waiting texting for 650 days" aka "my handlers will elevate me to franchise champion if Whyte is made mandatory" aka "let me rematch Fury again and avoid giving dangerous punchers a shot at me" aka "let me say NO to 12 million dollar from Dillian Whyte, because I make 2.5 million dollars a fight... oh wait.. why did I say no again..???" aka "Sure Dillian can have his shot as long as he continues to win, and win, and keep winning, and win some more, then do some more winning"
You seriously consider that a meaningful fight? That fight was essentially void & why fans wanted their PPV money back - dumbass.
Essentially according to who? You? Name me ONE fan that wants his money back dumbass, was a beautiful fight, fans loved it, they will come out to see Whyte fight again in December. 1) it was a very good fight. 2) no need for you to call him a dumbass for not putting Whyte v Rivas down. 3) depending on what UKAD say, it might turn out to be an irrelevant fight as Whyte is currently suspended from his mandatory position with the WBC as a result of failing a doping test again.
Then why is he jumping the gun??? Guilty till proven innocent? That's pathetic.. when he was enrolled onto VADA and made every effort to stay clean. WBC have not suspended Whyte from fighting, they put the mandatory status on hold pending official word from investigation. Whyte is free to fight with WBC and free to fight in the UK. This attitude of not giving Whyte the benefit of the doubt is dumbass behaviour. But whatever floats your boats, look forward to official word, then I'll catch up with everyone.
