Personally I don't think the Heavyweight division has ever been so boring. The marquee fighters of the division are virtually ignored, and rightfully so in most cases. The fact that Evander Holyfield and Hasim Rahman are still hanging around the title scene is quite frankly an embarrasment. The sad truth is though, there are little or no fighters out there who would put more butts in seats than those two famous but frankly shot fighters. The two most obvious names in any conversation about emerging Heavyweights are David Haye and Chris Arreola. Neither of whom will win a world title. David Haye is talented, there is no doubt about it. But he lacks the size and the chin to have any realistic chance of beating one of the lumbering giants currently holding the straps. Arreola? Well really what has he shown us? To me he has shown nothing. The fact is America is desperate for a top Heavyweight and Arreola has rightly or wrongly been branded their best hope. Hence his mainstream exposure. The point of this thread then? To discuss possible realistic challangers to the current crop of champions, who all seem far and beyond any of the current challengers
good post and i'm with you on this train. if the klitschko's retired though i think it could be an open playing field.
If the Klitschkos retired, we'd be steroid free, Wlad is a china chinned bum like his doping sister Vitalia.
The Klitschko brothers will not retire for the forseeable future I fear, why would you when there is nobody to threaten you and you can earn multi million dollar paydays for easy straight forward fights. Vitali Vs Valuev is the only h/w fight I would be remotely interested in these days
More fool you, Valuev is trash with zero ability and zero power. You need to respect the Hayemaker, you clearly don't know your boxing
As much as I would like to see Haye beat Vitali it will not happen. Haye will be embarrased by the bigger, stronger, more experienced and far better chinned Vitali. Hayes only chance against big hitters is to land first and hope they can't withstand his shots. As soon as Haye lands his best shot and Vitali doesn't budge Hayes gameplan is shot
