Camacho is ranked as one of the greatest Lightweights ever. He is atl east in the top 5 in greatest lightweights of all time. Pacman is a great fighter but he barely fought at 135 & to fight a fighter like a prime Camacho at his greatest. I'm sorry I like Pacman but he wouldn't beat a prime Camacho at 135.
I liked Hector Camacho as a kid. My dad would yell out his name and I'd start throwing punches as fast as he could. Definitely one of my earliest childhood memories of boxing. Haven't seen a full fight to make a valid opinion but i'll take your guy's opinion on this.
JCC , DLH , Trinidad + plasters all couldn't stop camacho. with all respect to pac , he wouldn't have also. pac on points. the better question should be pac vs. jcc at either 135 or 140.
I watched a video of Camacho recently and I am vastly impressed by him. He was an entertainer and held multiple titles. He fought the best at higher weights and was not knocked out by De La Hoya or Trinidad. He even beat Ray Leonard. From what I have seen, he was a great, speedy boxer with excellent skills and a stout chin. Is he an ATG or Hall of fame? :good
Macho with a different set of brain cells and upbringing could have made Willie Pep look like a plodder. This guy had the greatest talent I have ever seen its a damn crime that this man was a total idiot. Well just a misguided confused kid really' I believe he is the greatest talent ever wasted in the history of Boxing and still what he did deserves the hall of fame thats how great Macho was, the tradgedy is in what he might have been.
Wasted talent ? Even after winning WBC belts at 130 and 135 and WBO at 140lbs ? How good could he have been then?
Let's put it this way. Prime Tito and prime ODLH didn't KO Camacho. Camacho at 135 had a very respectable power. Camacho didn't gat more KO because he didn't want too. I think prime Camacho against the best possible Manny would be a very easy UD victory for Hector.
Hey Genious!!! Can you tell me when did they find plaster on Trinidad??? Everybody knows that was a trick to mess with his head. All they could said was his tape "look suspicious". Too easy fight for Camacho. At 135, Hector by 10-2 or possible KO.
At 140 Camacho split two with Haugen. I think even at 135 Pacquiao would give him a beating. Camacho was tough though so I see it going the distance.
lets put it this way, if we are forced to bet our life savings here, almost anyone would not be betting against pac on this match-up. pac is too consistent and great for the macho man.
Let me say something here. I trained in the same gym with Hector in Bayamon, PR. By the time Hector fought Edwin Rosario he was already hooked on drugs. The Camacho who fought Chavez wasn't half as good as he could be. NOt excusing him, that was his ****ing fault. But let me tell you, like somebody already said. Camacho could have been a lot more with a different brain set. Still, 79-5 is not bad. And at his age he could give a lot of people a hard time for a few rounds.
