WHat a scrap! 1st round was a toss up & Hendricks was throwing everything but the kitchen sink in round two only for Lawler to grin like a lunatic. I thought Hendricks was done after the shellacking he took in rounds 3 & 4 and that his corner would throw in the towl but he sucked it up and saw the bell both times. Hendricks took some more hard shots in the 5th but somehow willed himself forward and finally took command against a very gassed Lawler. Close and brutal fight!
Much better fight than Hendricks verses GSP. One major difference between the two fights is that Hendricks showed up in the 5th round this time, something he didn't do against GSP. Great fight, as I thought Hendricks wasn't going to make it out of the 4th round.
I thought Lawler landed the better punches in round 1 and should have won the fight. Going by damage as well Lawler messed hendricks face up. Lawler had hendricks hurt more but the lawler gassing in the 5th gave Hendricks his best round essentially. Lawler 3-2 IMO
Looked like Hendricks trying to actually use technique with his punches took all the power out of them. Stick to what worked to get to the top and throw wild nuclear bombs.
I think it's kind of ironic that this fight went very similar to GSP/Hendricks. The main difference is that Lawler acted like a class act afterwards, where as Hendricks acted like a whiny little ***** after he lost the decision to GSP. In all seriousness, round 1 could have gone either way.....in both fights, and I think should've been scored a 10-10. A score that is way too under-utilized in MMA.
Not sure what you're referring to with "emotions"....if anyone let their emotions get the best of them, it was people after the GSP/Hendricks decision. many I'm sure went back and objectively re-watched the fight and remembered that MMA is scored on a 10 point must system, and that fight is NOT the robbery everyone cried about the night of. You should learn to be more clear with your idiotic responses :good
I mean your dislike for Hendricks for something he apparently said in interviews after beating GSP. You have to understand that fight starts and ends in the cage. It's not a personality contest. I suggest you to stop watching interviews, Countdown shows etc. You'll thank me later. :good What did GSP do in the first round to deserve it, or even to make it 10-10? He got rocked and busted face during it from strikes, knees and elbows. :think You want more draws? You must be joking. haha It's not acceptable for you to start throwing 10-10 rounds just because you want Hendricks to lose close fights that he wins. Rematches are better for the sport than cards with five draws. I'm just trying to help you to become a better, less biased scorer without insulting you. If I remember right, you have the same problem with boxing.
If Hendricks would have swung for the fences recklessly, he would have ended up getting KOed by one of Lawlers clean counter punches. Kinda like what almost happenedatsch

I don't dislike Hendricks, however I am starting to think you are in love with him...or may actually be him :deal But to say he acted professionally or even like a champion following that fight is a blatant lie. And yes, for me, when I think back on "fights" I remember and consider the build-ups, fight itself and aftermath. The actual fights themselves, here you go for comparisons: 1. Both had very clear rounds 2, 3, 4 & 5 winners. 2. Both had very close round 1 3. The guy who lost the decision in both fights clearly inflicted more damage than the other guy 5. The guy that won the decision in both fights, clearly won the 5th round. B. No comment. C. I never said I wanted more draws. But there are a few things to the current scoring system that CAN HELP. 1 can be to stop having judges feel that they NEED to pick a winner in rounds when there clearly is NOT a winner. The way the UFC has turned nowadays, a loss can be very detrimental to fighters, and sometimes it's subjectivity and taste by certain judges that can impact a fighters career a great deal. Losing a fight, because of 1 round in which you didn't really "lose" is ****ing ******ed. There was NO damage in the 1st round of the Lawler/Hendricks fight, NEITHER fighter looked bewildered or taken out of their game. I think 10-10 rounds should be utilized more, AND I think 1/2 points should be allowed. And I think we need more competent judges obviously. D. I recommend you see a psychiatrist to get your paranoia checked out. You obviously have a chip on your shoulder and have some complex where you feel the world is out to get Hendricks. atsch
I thought the decision was just. Hendricks 1,2 and 5 Lawler 4 , 5 What surprised me about Lawler was the way he stood in the pocket and in range and used head movement and good counters. I don't think Hendricks was expecting this and thought that this was his kind of fight. As the power started to drain from Hendricks punches Lawler began taking more chance and was landing clean blow after clean blow and had Hendrick hurt a good few times. Lawler should have went for the finish when he hurt Hendricks in the 4th but you got to give Big Rig credit for making sure he won that 5th round. Can see these two meeting again in the future.
Hendicks definitely learned that a 5 round fight is a 5 round fight, not a 4 round fight. Had he won the 5th round against GSP he definitely would have won that fight but he basically gave the round away. Now it's Lawler's turn to learn the same thing.
Good fight, but it was basically a boxing match with MMA gloves... Kind of ironic that most of MMA's best fights are that, maybe with a few exceptions.
I have never seen not 1 man Laugh after getting hit by combos from HENDRICKS . Hendricks usually does not have to throw combos , he throws 1 punch and usually that's all it takes . Everyone else falls but Lawler laughs !??!? Lawler is one scary mother#cker . I would not mind seeing a rematch in the future .
