I'm not sure Frank Warren could cope with Herbie Hide again Best described as an interesting character, our Herbie.
He's fighting regular and he's winning. People criticise Hide unfairly at times, he's had a couple of unlucky losses and big losses to Vitaly and Bowe. (who were very good at the time.) I'd love to see him win a title.
I think the two losses can be discounted to a certain degree The Bowe fight was a schooling, I couldn't believe he was asking for a rematch! Klitschko was on the crest of a wave at the time, Herbie's chin was never going to be enough. I don't think you can doubt his ability as a fighter, it is his character which lets him down IMO.
Interesting? The guys got a screw loose. He was VERY talented and i believe if he wasnt so erractic and juvenile he could have achieved much more. Either way i see him as a welcome addition at 200lbs and a fringe contender. Id love to see him vs Enzo as one thing is certain Hide CAN punch.
i was a huge herbie fan from the start...used to watch a lot of his early fights on screensport {great boxing on that channel}...and was singing his praises all over the place then... but...i worry about the fact that he's 36 now...and for a fighter who relies on speed and sharpness as he does..thats old.. hide v enzo would be great...but {and i wrote about this on a thread in the general section} he is the wbc international champ and no5 in their ratings...and he may get a shot at that title...
I saw most of Hide's early fights too, he seemed a decent prospect until he ran into Bowe. He made Bowe look silly in the opening two rounds, I remember Bowe trying to hit him and Stumbling, then once Bowe caught up with him and scored the 1st Knockdown it was all downhill from there. He did show courage getting up as many times as he did but it was a career ending beatdown in the end. He did however then score a great 2nd round KO over a faded Tony Tucker and regained the vacant WBO belt, why the hell did he go in with Vitali though BIG MISTAKE. I am pleased to see him back and doing well and hope he wins some version of the Cruiserweight Title.
V Klit was the number one challenger unfortunately, Warren got the fight in London. Hide probably cleared £1m.
Great news I hope he gets a title at this weight. Enzo v Hide would be a big fight. They could set it up in Wales but like someone said above I doubt Warren would work with Hide again.
