The only bit i think you could take away from that is the knife to the back and only the start of it.

So many people are just jealous because they'll never accomplish 0.00000001% of what Sempai Seagal has in his life. He's a renowned martial arts master, entrepreneur, visionary recording artist, movie star, writer, film producer, animal rights activist and law enforcement officer. What the **** have you cretins ever done? I applaud the OP for posting this video of Sempai Seagal in his prime. I'm saving this one to my hard drive.

That knife defense was as sound as its going to be. I mean the front knife attack, expect to get cut. Anytime someone has a knife and it can be a 12 year old girl, life and death is 50/50 at best. The back knife defense was perfect. Seagals big, very quick and very strong and as you can see, this was 20 damn years ago. You dont want to **** with him in the street trust me, I know people in the and other MA schools that would testify. His knife skills are sick, just ask Dan Inosanto or Chris Sayoc.

Sure Aikido has been mostly BS since Eushiba started getting philosophical. But some of its moves were clearly derived from Daito Ryu and Jujitsu. This **** is all the same.

As for Matsuoka taking the breakfall, if youve done Judo or any MA, thats what an Uke needs to do. Take the fall or you'll get hurt. You think that Seagal cant do that to you? Is that what youre saying?

A lot of the principle moves of Aikido work after getting the arm extended. A hand on the shoulder, a shove, an attempted choke, and a committed punch are frequent starting points. The art of Aikido is based on being defensive. There are no preemptive attacks, so all the techniques are based on countering.

I've seen footage of instructors showing how to get the arm of an assailant extended without the assailant throwing a punch. The technique looked extremely complicated.

    Exactly.

Seriously, I think Aikido does have some valid techniques. Steven Seagal may disagree, but I think that Aikido alone would leave holes in one's game. I think that one would be better off to study bjj primarily, then maybe Judo followed by Aikido to supplement one's stand-up game.
