....and is there a rule against it? Was Cotto forced into doing something he didn't want? Pac is bringing with him the prestige of being P4P #1, he's giving Cotto's highest payday. Pac's team, I think, also paid for the belt's sanctioning fee. Are you going to tell me that Cotto should just walk into this party empty handed?
You seem to forget who manages Cotto, right? And also seem to forget who is Arums cash cow and pretty boy, do you? I know Miguel is a grown ass man, but don't speak in such a naive way about that situation in Top Rank.
Ironic you blame Pac for participating in a 145 pound catchweight fight, when This content is protected , the man in your avatar, and Pernell Whitaker were the pioneers of the This content is protected This content is protected Excerpts: "Facing him was the 29-year-old Whitaker, with a record of 32-l with 15 KOs, the one loss the product of a dubious bit of ringside sleight of hand. He was the stylistic antithesis of Chávez—a southpaw, clever and quick-footed, with a bobbing, crouching, mobile style that made him an elusive target. Whitaker has also held five titles in three weight classes (he retained his WBC welterweight crown as dubious consolation for this draw), and his 12-round decision over Buddy McGirt on March 6 set up the match with Chávez. On Friday they were fighting for Whitaker's title, with a This content is protected —two below the customary welter-weight limit—set to accommodate the lighter Chávez, but there was a good deal more at stake. "This is for the best fighter, pound for pound," said Whitaker, a U.S. Olympic gold medal winner in 1984. "We may be fighting for my title, but that's not what everyone is talking about. This is like going for the gold again." :hey :bbb
You seem to forget that Cotto had a chance to leave Top Rank just before this fight was made... and you seem to forget that Cotto seem to have stayed with Arum to have a crack at Pac. Bottom line, Pac asked for 143, Cotto requested 145, Pac said OK and fight was made. From their last official weigh in, Pac went up 7, Cotto went down 1 when they settled for 145.
Hey boxing fans ... Real ones... Name me some of the biggest matchups of all time that happen to be catch weights... This has a history of repeating itself.. Some times the best fighters are different sizes but close enough to negotiate weight..
though its true almost everyone in the philippines have easy, cheap access to internet, kids at internet cafe often play online games like ragnarok, dota, etc..:good
Kids in America have access to cheaper internet. And they have it in their house - living room, bedroom, basement, school, But they play Halo and other FPS. :good
pac was then fighting at 135 when odlh offered pac to fight him at 147. odlh (and other keyboard warriors in esb) thought he could murder pac in less than three rounds. sad thing is, pac made odlh quit from his stool. then there's the hatton fight. many boxing fans thought hatton would throw pac like a rag doll in the ring. but pac made hatton like a vegetable in the middle of the ring. then there's the cotto fight. pac asks for 143, miguel gave 145. the deal was made @ 145. many of us here questioned the catchweight issue, but we know for sure it's not pac who initiated this catchweight bull****. even though it has been repeated so many times, pac fights at 144-149 at fight nights, even when he was still at featherweight.
