Holyfiled was 41 against Toney . If 1 could bring back 40 years old Markegiano , give him enough time 4 preparations , he'd probably gotten TKOd by that same Toney as well . Not 2 mention what a prime Bowe would have done 2 any version of Markegiano .
Holyfield did not go down vs 30 years old Tyson while aged 34 , Markegiano retired after getting floored by 39 (at least) years old Archie Wright at age 32 , Holyfield fought Lewis twice while aged 37 , wasn't floored even once , while 29 years old Markegiano floored twice against a 38 years old Arnold Cream . h2h Holyfield > Markegiano , p4p Holyfield probably better .
Holyfield's is more proven that's for sure so i'd have to give him the nod. However Rocky is one of the few fighters in history that i've never seen hurt, dizzy, never seems out of it, every time he got floored he got up straight away and didn't seem at all phased. Both occasions he got floored he walked into a shot he didnt see coming and was moving forward. Given the amount of shots he took and the fact he was never legit hurt i'd say Marciano had a better one p4p
You cannot say who's was better as one guy was never stopped or terribly hurt on film, ever, while the other guy fought much bigger, better and harder punching fighters many times over ... simply not enough information ..
Nope just once, coincidentally it happened in the first minute, of the first round and was the first time Rocky had been floored.
his era was much better. he competed against foreman, bowe, tyson, lewis, old holmes, etc. never mind the contenders and other top fighters. as someone else recently stated, holyfield's era feature 3 other fighters in the top 10 all time list at heavyweight (four if you include old holmes). i'm not 23, but it doesn't matter my age. that's a statistic that rocky can't compete with
i watched it at least twice and don't feel like watching it again right now , i might b wrong or confusing it with Louis in d count of KDs but even if i m it does not take much from my initial argument .
In 49 fights Marciano was down twice. He was dropped in the first round vs. Walcott (his 43rd fight) and in the second round vs. Moore (his 49th fight). He went on to drop and eventually stop both men in these fights. Holyfield was dropped for the first time in his 27th fight. At this point Holyfield was already 8-0 (6) in World title fights and 3-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers. He was a former Undisputed CW Champ and the reigning Undisputed HW Champ. The knockdown was vs. Bert Cooper in the 3rd round... Holyfield didn't go down but he did need to grab the ropes to keep himself up after getting hit with a big shot. Holyfield was dropped for the second time in his 29th fight. He was now 30 years old, 28-0 (22) overall, 10-0 (7) in World title fights, and 4-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers. He was dropped by Riddick Bowe in the 11th round... again, Holyfield didn't go down but he did support himself with the ropes after getting hit in the back of the head. Holyfield was down for the 3rd and 4th time in his career vs. Bowe in their third fight... Holyfield was 33 years old. Holyfield was down vs. Ruiz when he was almost 40. He was down vs. Toney when he was 76 years old. He's 137 years old now and he hasn't gone down since the Toney fight! I'm going with Holyfield by a pvssy hair... modern day pvssy at that... not the 1970's afro pvssy.
I think it was heart and a good chin that kept both men on the feet, a great chin is a great chin, however Holyfield got dropped by James Toney with body shots and then the head and he was KO'd, I think the body punches weakened Evander.....
Marciano got knocked down by guys that hit him smart, well-timed punches thrown by smart slick fighters. Holyfield got hit with shots thrown by less smart fighters than Walcott and Moore, and I think that makes a big difference. I have a problem saying Holyfield had a 'granite' chin after Bowe knocked him out, and I don't think Cooper could have done to Marciano what he did to Holyfield.
