if youre just a fan of holyfield (like me) and this is what you feel in your heart because you grew up watching him and just dont want to see anything bad happen... then yeah, its fine to say that....risk to reward is not there....
but theres alot of idiots on here that call for a 27 year old fighter who gets knocked out for the first time in his career (like eddie chambers) and people say he should retire....that bugs the **** out me......

If he can pass the physicals and get licensed, what are you gonna do?

Personally, I think it would be better if they set up some "seniors tour" for boxers, so they could make some money fighting each other, rather than young fighters.

Holyfield is so punch drunk to **** that I can hardly understand a word he speaks nowdays, he needs to quit.
Imagine that was your father and through the years you've watched his brain turn to mush, would you want him to fight on?

No way in hell a retirement fund would ever work for boxers. If guys can manage to blow millions, a few extra hundred or even a thousand a month wouldn't make a bit of difference. People with fundamental money management skills will always have problems so long as they leave those problems unaddressed. Throwing money at money problems never works.

So ****ing what? Jones Jr still passes them yeah? I suppose he should fight on?

Yeah let these guys fight on waaay past prime and only take their licence away the day they get bad news at an examination eh? "Sorry Mr Holyfield the accumulated damage has taken it's toll, 10-15 years from now you'll be a drooling vegetable, goodbye. Send in Roy Jones Jr please!!"

FFS the man shouldn't be in the ring, his brain isn't functioning properly it's there for all to see, the mans had too many wars.

i never said 1 time what he was doing was a good idea. i said it was his right to fight if he passed the tests. i think he wasting his time.....ive watched him fight for the first time against qawi in atlanta.... holyfield has been in more wars from 1986-1993 than the top 50 guys now added up together. i know theres no benefit to him fighting the bothas of the world...i know he wont quit...i actually know evander...ive done business with him....i dont want to see him hurt....boxing is a ****ed up sport and has no real regulations as a sport.....they will use him up and look away when he gets hurt...
like i said earlier, if youre gonna take his liscense...take the guys who the current top 20 feed on, the guys who have lost 20 times in a 3 year span....
its part of life....you cant make the alcoholic quit drinking his life away....
you cant make someone stop smoking if they are destroying their lungs because you think its bad for them.....

Holyfield should be waiting for induction to the hall, not waiting for a beatdown a top HW (giant shaved apes don't count as top heavys).

yeah, accept valuev may not have been a bum before he fought holyfield, but he was definitely a bum and a half on the night they fought, not to mention evander slurs at this point, a sign that he needs to hang'em up

I agree he should fight but they need top feed him to Wlad or Vitali so he can get embarrassed and quick. I'm convinced even if he beat one of them he would be too stupid to retire and would fight the other one and get retired the hard way.

I did not say he was not ****ed up. He is. Badly.

I am saying it is pure hypocrisy to bang on about Evander retiring whilst not giving a flying **** about Jouneymen who get the **** kicked out of them everytime they get in the ring.

I am saying that boxing is brutal. Live with it.
