But Evander didn't, even though he took more shots than almost any top tier HW. Holyfield always came to fight, not to box and this time it would be no difference. He wouldn't try to jab and run away from Frazier, he'd meet him head to head in the center of the ring. I don't think it'd end up well for him, as Frazier was almost impossible to outbox without big physical advantage (and Holyfield wouldn't have that).
Holyfield from 86-90 had a higher workrate than Ali ever had. Nevermind FOTC Ali who was done by the second half of the fight.
Ideally Holyfield boxes with educated pressure like he did against Tyson. Maybe like Bowe 2. But even if he trades toe to toe I don't see any issue in Holyfield getting the better of it. Frazier doesn't have any size advantage and Holyfield's defense against left hookers is top draw. You can see that against Tyson and the sparring with Tua. He just blocks it perfectly with his gloves and counters.
Ali always fought in the15 rounds distance. Ali fought different than evander but his stamina was huge. Holyfield did not have more stamina than Ali
That's how I see it. If Holfyfield hit a little bit harder, that would be my pick. Fraizer has a big energy edge, and IMO hits hard enough to get Holyfield respect and damage him like Bowe. It would be back and forth for a while but around round 10, Frazier takes over. Frazier by 3-4 points. Testing clean, I do not think Holyfield would be as big and strong. Great fight. If they fought three times, I'd pick Holyfield once.
Well maybe in Ali's prime but on the comeback he took tons of rests by going back to the ropes. When do you ever see Holyfield do this? Ali's style in his prime is somewhat inefficient.
Frazier is a boxers worst nightmare, its the big durable hard hitters like Foreman and Lewis that Frazier matches up poorly against Agree. Frazier wins a close hard fought decision here. How well do you think Holyfield takes a body shot compared to Ali? IMO one reason why i favour Frazier is because i don't think Holyfield takes a body shot as well as Ali.
The comparison would be Holyfield fought the SHW punchers he faced to close fights were as Frazier crumbled twice
The problem is that Tua and Tyson were head hunters with their hooks. Frazier didn't mind going to the body time and time again. Holyfield didn't have durability to the body on Ali's level.
All about styles. Look Holy and Frazier are 2 of the absolute toughest HWC. If they were theoretically around at there absolute best Joe wins. Its styles man.
If no PEDS are allowed, than this fight will never happen cause Holyfield won't have the same mass. Prime vs prime, my money's on Holyfield, although it would be a worthless win, since he was on steroids and thus had an unfair advantage.
