The smart money would be on Holyfield, no question. He's far more proven and proved his worth against far better opposition. Haye by and large, hasn't done enough at the weight to be seriously considered. I'm not sure why he gets so much attention to be honest.
I agree; Holyfield wasn't faultless but he was a true warrior by any measure. I also think he had more all round ability than Haye, too.
Pretty spot on. What has Haye done a win over Valuev, a washed up Ruiz and Chisora. Against a man that went toe to toe with Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, Holmes, Moorer. Come on.
Haye essentially has one win over a top10 ranked heavyweight, and that is his lacklustre win over the #5 ranked Valuev. That’s all folks!
Agree...Haye's HW resume is very thin. Haye gets attention because he looks the part on TV which is highly suitable for the "style over substance" era in which we live; and also because he comes out with soundbites which impress the casual boxing fan & puts bums on seats...emporer's new clothes. However, this does seem to be enough to impress Elroy, which is quite revealing in itself.
To claim anyone would " walk through " Haye's punches is even more delusional than the half witted Holyfield when the fool was still talking about being undisputed champion when he was in his mid 40's, and slurring his speech like a two bob pisshead.
Although I am far from sold on Haye as a fighter, I am sold on him as a puncher. He is the kind of puncher who can hurt people even when he doesnt hit them cleanly. This is no however enough in itself to pick him over proven all time greats, especially not ones with all time chins.
Holy would beat Haye in 6 rounds. Young Holyfield was fast and could apply pressure. If he had the work rate he had in the Qawi or Bowe fights Haye is getting dropped early. Haye would try to box from the outside but Holy makes it a war.
Holyfield all night long... He hit hard enough to crack Haye`s chin. MUCH better combination puncher with superior footwork. But, the biggets difference (and it`s huge) is that if Holy stubs his toe, he won`t pack it in and fight *****. Seriously,holyfield would fight King Kong,fearlessly and with his warrior attitude. Hayye would absolutely cave under the heat Holy would bring. Haye can`t stop Holyfield (chin is battle tested tough) and Haye sure as hell can`t outwork him. Holyfield,by late rd stoppage... Really Holyfield is on a whole other level than Haye...Haye`s biggest asset is his big mouth...Which Holyfield would bury his fist in !
There is a big gulf in resumes here, and I mean big. In order to favour Haye here, you must satisfy yourself of one of the following: A. That Haye had a major stylistic advantage to offset this. B. That Haye was a lot better than the evidence suggests. C. That Haye fought in a much stronger era than Holyfield. Any of the above positions, would obviously require a strong argument. If you are not satisfied about one of the above, then you must favour Holyfield.
holyfield will **** david haye up hard, hes just better, only thing haye has over evander is speed. and wont be enough.
