I cant believe someone just wrote 'David Haye' and 'outstanding skill' in the same sentence. Haye is powerful, explosive, athletic, and can use those attributes to box decent enough at world level but that's about it. Haye's biggest flaws are his lack of technique and skill. Holyfield would beat the **** out of Haye.
haye has done brilliant to be able to compete at world level as it is today....even if he is awfully inactive........but if holyfield is steel, haye is hardened plastic at best.
Haye talks an insane amount of trash, Evander tells him to bring it. A weeks away from the fight Haye cuts himself despite wearing head gear, fight is rescheduled, Haye than injures his back, fight is rescheduled, Haye comes up with a new injury, Holyfield calls the thing off and pursues other opponents, Haye and his fans claim Evander is ducking him. Haye goes inactive for years as he talks up a fight with Lewis but they can't agree on the purse split. Haye claims Lewis, Golota, and Tyson are ducking him, in the meantime he scores a KO win over a washed up Frank Bruno. Holyfield and Haye resume talks. The fight finally happens, Haye runs and falls to the floor everytime Holyfield gets close. Holyfield scores with his jab and hurts Haye several times with the few combinations he manages to get off before Haye slips to the floor, winning a boring decision. Haye claims he broke his little finger that prevented him from throwing his power shots but was such a warrior he braved on, Holyfield just scowls in his direction with a half mouth sneer.
The rocket scientist who favor Haye need to take a good look. When a war breaks out in a fight, and in ALL Holyfield fights they did. Who are you betting on ? The guy who stubs his toe and runs/clinches just to survive against another safety first fighter ? Or... The guy who after getting a chunk bitten out of his ear, calmly tells his trainer to put his mouthpiece back in so he can go knockout Mike Tyson ? This can`t be a serious thread ...
I'd see Haye winning the first few rounds, but feel Holyfield would withstand the early barrage and either stop him late or get a fairly comfortable UD.
Please allow me to clear one thing up. I have not picked him over Holyfield, in fact I don't think he should be allowed in the same ring as any version of Holyfield prior to the thick speeched delusional one, and even that might not be a given. I will reiterate though, it is as equally stupid as Elroy's reference to certain fighters as " featherfists " to claim that anyone could simply " walk through " Haye's punches.
If Haye bounced around like Holyfield his punches would not have ko power. Look what happened to Douglas when Holyfield sat down on his power shots. Haye has only two actual knockouts in his who career and none of them were at HW. Evander puts Haye to sleep.
Haye really isn`t in Holyfield`s class... Skillwise, Holy did verything better,and when he sat down on his shots,he could crack too. Where the rubber truly meets the road is in fighting heart,warrior mentality,chin and just plain balls. Hoenstly, I don`t think Holy takes a back sit to anyone when it comes to heart and fire. he would absolutely eat Haye up when a fight breaks out. And we all know and have seen how Haye fights when confronted by perceived danger...
Absolutely. Haye cracked against an ancient Carl Thompson for christ's sake. Haye is nowhere near Holyfield's class.
Holyfield is ALL WRONG for Haye. MUCH better work-rate, Harder puncher, Throws better and more combos, Better chin (I shouldn't have even put that! lol), Better everything... Evander within 5-7 Rounds.
