Bailey, everybody who can count, knows Joe won, cleary. It does not change the fact it was a **** fight.
I watched through this video. It appears to prove little, apart from the fact that Hopkins did well early on. The repeated replay of the KD feels like propagandy, showing it once would have been more convincing. The quality on Youtube is not good enough to see if you really are right in what you claim. It seems to me like JC's left at 10:00 sneaks around Hopkins glove and lands towards the side of the neck. And I cant tell if the left uppercut Hopkins try to land inside after reaches JC. In the next step you want to show a body counter from Hopkins, but once again it is hard to tell if it land or if it just slides outside. Apart from that I was surprised to see that JC did not all that bad when Hopkins clenched. He kept throwing at all ranges, despite some people saying he has no inside game.
I had Hopkins just nicking it at the time... would need to rewatch it to be sure though, but cant be arsed Hopkins completely stunk the place out and Calzaghe wasnt much better. Terrible fight to watch wouldnt want to sit through that **** again ..:tired
Yer 230 I think. Clearly he landed more than 50 but i'll admit he didn't land 230. Around 180-190 but still soundly outlander Hopkins. I scored it to calzaghe by 2 rounds when I first watched it and have re scored it and had it as a 114-114 draw. So to say I haven't given an honest assessment is foolish. The only reason I back calzaghe over Hopkins and show a slit bias to Joe is because b-hop went to the ground like a little ***** coz he couldn't keep up with Joe. Edit: Re scoring as we speak
At the time most had Calzaghe as the winner no question, said Hopkins was shot and even people from Hopkins tean said Hopkins should retire, but because Calzaghe has retired and drifted away and Hopkins is still relevent in the division, people change their opinions to suit. America seemed to hate it that Calzaghe beat Hopkins but excecped it when J Taylor scored a SD, whilst looking out of it in the latter rounds
Great point :good I think the reason why most people have it for calzaghe is because the rounds were so close and hard to score so people generally go for the more aggressive fighter. I'm trying to be as non biased as possible. 86-86 through 9 but there are a few rounds which you could argue for either way.
He didn't clearly land more than 50. That is the problem with the Slappy Joe ball gobblers. If I was backing a fighter, and afterward had a chance to review the fight, I would acknowledge if my fighter stunk it up and didn't really do ****. Fans of the Welsh slapper don't have that type of integrity. They would rather ride a 50 punch output down into the gutter, claiming it was a 180 punch landed output, just laughable.
**** fight, just check my post history to see what i think of Calzaghe. So i can say this without any agenda, i think he won, first time i had it for Hopkins but second, third time i watched it i gave it to Joe. By a **** hair mind. i think Hopkins thought he had enough rounds in the bank and the knockdown to win it and did **** all past the 7th to deserve the victory. Should have had a rematch but that doesn't change the outcome.
Calzaghe 8-4...maybe 7-5. It was an awful fight but Hopkins wasn't doing ANYTHING for the second half of the fight. Calzaghe looked as bad as he ever did, but he was attempting to fight. That's more than Hopkins did.
He landed more than 50 punches. Maybe 180 is a bit to many but you could tap someone on the nose or KO someone with a punch and it only counts for one. I can openly ad it Hopkins without a doubt landed the better shots but Joe slowly and slowly landed more and more convincingly through the fight and I had it 115-114 (2 even rounds) although now I can clearly see why people scored it for B Hop Commentary was bull**** ass's land Keller an was the only neutral commentator and Harold was a complete twat scoring it 116-111. I can accept anything around the 115-113 for Hopkins up to 115-112 for Calzaghe but anything outside of that I feel there showing a slight bias. I still think calzaghe won but fair enough dude, your points are all good ones. My scorecards were right at the start of when i watched boxing so I didnt really take them have the same knowledge I do now. I've learnt a lot from re watching this fight so from a boxing fan lacking in knowledge(I can admit I am) to you I thank mist say thanks:good
Yer same here, just re scored it and from 8 onwards I had it 49-47 for Joe and I feel if he didn't have that breather in the 10th he would have lost 10 (I scored it for b hop) and 11 and 12 wouldn't even have been close
This is ESB so stop acting all polite. It's creepy. If a person disagrees with you call him a fanboy/hater and insinuate he is a homosexual. If he proves all your points wrong, leave the thread, stalk him in the future and ***** to him about petty things. A resonable poster :-( Good knows what we will see next. People discuss boxing perhaps.
