Both Hopkins and Jones but no Dawson? I mean, Hopkins you can argue based on his wins, at least, but Jones? He's finished. No one can truly be the man at 175 without going through Dawson, who has been the most impressive fighter in the division this year and is the only guy on his way up.

For Hopkins? Either Calzaghe or Jones make more sense. Dawson's nearing his shot but it doesnt make the most of the moment. Yes, if Hopkins has 3 fights left then Dawson is the guy. Yet, I dont think he does, his trainer apparently doesnt think he does, and I havent heard Hopkins express his desire for 3 so I'm thinking that Dawson's next opponent will be found in the fallout from these negoitiations.

Cheer up Dawson fans, his time is coming and it could well be the second half of 08. If Hoipkins vs Calzaghe took place and JC won? Dawson then becomes THE #1 Opponent. If Hopkins wins? I still think RJJ means more given the ages.

What is funny about this...and posts of its like. Is if Hopkins decided to take another fight instead of meet Calzaghe's demands, he is ducking him.......but if Joe does it, Hopkins is still the one ducking him....

Show some ****in class....be unbiased for once.

Neither one is necessarily ducking the other at this point.

Bernard has probably one more big $$$ fight left and he has to pick who

    a) brings him the most money

    and

    b) who does the most for his legacy

in that order, as legacy is not quite as important in that he's been beaten (four times).

You overrate him at this point in his career and probably, so does he himself. I would like to see him win his final fight and go out a winner.

There are not too many opponents that leaves. Frankly, there's no serious name he can beat at 175

(Tarver, I don't consider a serious name: He's 4-3-0 in his last six outings and he's down to fighting unknowns).

At 168, he can't beat the top two, and besides, if he fights anyone other than Joe at 168, he's ducking.

At 160, he might try Taylor again. Does anyone want to see a trilogy there?

Pavlik is a possibility, it would be a big $$$ fight, with a serious crack at redemption. ( Beat the man Taylor couldn't). But the downside is too great. Getting stopped and no more big money fights.

I would favour him over Miranda. Decent money and then, either (a) retire a winner, or (b) take another big money fight, trading legacy for $$$.

For Calzaghe, there's a lot more options. He can (IMO, should) fight Dawson. This would be a good close fight. Money and another title.

He can fight the winner of Taylor-Pavlik at 168, lots of money, both have US names.

He can fight Woods. Less money, but new title and competitive fight.

He can fight Winky. Extend his defense streak, and expose the difference in levels that Calzaghe/Kessler operate at, versus BHOP and Winky.

OR, he could fight BHop. This one appeals to the sentimental Bernard fans, but is not of much interest to more serious fans on account of the likeky one-sidedness of the evening.

Lots of $$$, good for the legacy (Future fans are less likely to ask which version of the X-man he defeated), and shuts up the doubters, maybe.

My first choice for Joe: Dawson.

My first choice for Bernard: Edison. (kelly, if he's in a gambling mood)

Why dont people do their homework on these things.

First, the request from Hopkins was 3m in the states or 6m overseas....Warren offered 3m for the fight to be overseas. They also said the fight was to be at 168....to which Hopkins refused.

On top of that, it was part of a fight deal with Showtime that fell through.

Really, its getting ridiculous the amount of people that hear something and repeat it without checking the facts.

The only people that believe that rubbish are Hopkins haters and Calzaghe fans.

Cmon Vooh, your better than that.

Bernard was an independent in those days and not very good at the negotiating game and mistrustful of signing anything with anyone.

He is largely responsible, not for ducking Jones, but for causing the prospective fight to fall through.

Same thing with the Calzaghe fight.

Bernard was also a bit on the greedy side, as his former trainer, Bouie Fisher can attest.

That's sad because it meant he never made close to the money he should have made, based on his talent and accomplishment.

Not until he hooked up with GBP, has he become a financial big guy.

(In that short time, he's made more $$$$ than in the entire rest of his lengthy and stellar career.)

Joe is not the least concerned about fighting Bernard and is not ducking him.

Bernard has never ducked anyone, but lost the chance at some big fights through making poor decisions.

Joe's manager is a cagey, greedy ****, and Bernard has some avarice too.

If this fight doesn't happen, that will be the reasons, and not because either guy is ducking the other.

I'ts not a fight real Calzaghe fans are dying to see anyway.
