I dont think the weight is that big a deal. Pavlic fought at 166 right before this. At fight night they were 174 versus 180. Pavlic always was a large middleweight and despite their intentions to return to 160, i think in time he will be at 168 again.


It is a huge win for Hopkins and also as far as age differences it is a historic win. No one has ever dominated somone 17 years younger like that. The only one to ever compare to that was George Foreman and he even was loosing until a big KO win. Hopkins dominated from start to finish.

I dont think too many have hopkins above SRR like you are suggesting, I havent seen anyone say that here. But he has been argued as being the best middleweight ever and that is atleast something that is a legitament case.

Hopkins fought the vast majority of his career at 160.
Calzaghe fought the vast majority of his career at 168.

By the time they fought, Hopkins had had 1 fight at 175, but because it was Calzaghe who came up in weight for that fight, Hopkins is the naturally bigger man.

By that same logic, Pac is fighting Oscar at 147. If he fights Malignaggi or Kendall Holt next, he IS the naturally bigger man because he has had 1 fight at 147 and they haven't fought there.
