You have thoroughly exposed and embarrassed yourself with this post mate.

Hopkins first won a world middleweight title in April 1995 - AFTER he had already fought Roy Jones, by 1995 recognized as the world's p4p#1.

By this time, Gerald McClennan had already been forced to retire due to injury. So Hopkins could never have fought him realistically. :-(

Nigel Benn lost his SUPERMIDDLEWEIGHT world title to Sugarboy Malinga in I think it was March 1996. He hadn't fought at middleweight since 1991. So Hopkins, a little known IBF middleweight champion, had a mighty window of 11 months from Apr 95 to Mar 96 to vacate the world title he had only just won, jump a weight division when he clearly had no need to do so, and go to the UK chasing a shot at Benn's supermiddleweight belt. Why, why would he do this? It's very likely Benn would have refused anyway since he was a bit shellshocked after the McClennan fight and took two routine defences next, both in London, against the awful Nardiello and Danny "Who?" Perez, before losing to Malinga. Was Hopkins then supposed to vacate his IBF middle belt and move up to supermiddle to challenge someone who had no title? :-(

By 1995 when Hopkins first won a world title, Barkley was 35 years old, and he had just lost 3 fights in a row to take his record to 33-11. Among these losses was a points loss to a guy who was having his SECOND pro contest, and who retired with a 9-5-1 record. Oh, and did I mention his 3 defeats in 1995 all came at 180-200lbs, and that he hadn't fought at middleweight since 1990? :-(

By Apr 95 when Hopkins won his first world title, Eubank had just lost his title to Steve Collins one month earlier. Eubank fought 2 very mediocre opponents in the UK, then lost a rematch to Collins, then went into semi-retirement, fighting only twice in 2 years once in Asia once in Africa, against novice professionals. Eubank had not fought at middleweight since 1991. :-(

By Apr 95 Steve Collins had only just taken Eubank's title. He didn't fight again til beating Eubank in a rematch, made 2 title defences against British fighters in Ireland, won 2 lucrative fights with Nigel Benn in the UK, had 2 more routine defences in the UK, then retired in 1997. Was Hopkins, a little-known IBF middleweight champion, supposed to vacate his first and only title, jump a weight division when he had no need to, and come to the UK chasing a fight with a guy who knew he could make big money in the UK fighting old names like Eubank and Benn at home? :-(

Michael Nunn was knocked out by James Toney at middleweight in 1991. He moved up to supermiddleweight in 1991. He was beaten by Steve Little and Frankie Liles in 1994. By 1995, he had no title and very little prospect of a title shot. He fought at light-heavyweight and cruiserweight not long after '95. Was Hopkins supposed to vacate his world title in '95 and go chasing a fight with a guy who was now losing to guys like Little and Liles, and who was now fighting at light-heavy and higher? :-(

By Apr 95 when Hopkins first won the world middleweight title, James Toney was fighting at light-heavyweight. Was Hopkin supposed to vacate the world title he had just won and put on TWO STONE and chase a fight with Toney, who didn't win a world title again til 2003, and it was the cruiserweight title at that? :-(

By Apr 95, Mike McCallum was 39 years old, and was the WBC light-heavyweight champion... until he lost it in June 1995, giving Hopkins a staggering 2 month gap to get McCallum to cancel his already arranged title fight with Fabrice Tiozzo, take a fight with him despite McCallum probably not knowing who he was, and... pile on 2 stones in weight. :-(

Do you see just how idiotic and ill-informed your comments were? Think these things through please, or there will always be someone on here to point out what a biased tit you're being.

i would say hopkins has 2 resumes...the 90s which was pretty bad and 2000-to present, which has been pretty damn good and better than anyone else in the respective time frame.....

u just wasted an enormous amount of time being stupid.
so what...you are comparing hopkins ( who won the title) to hopkins the contender....he fought roy jones in the beginning og 1993....all the guys in the above mentioned were still very formidable and who gives a **** if mike nunn was kod in 1991, he won titles in 1993 and 1994, mcallum fought jones in nov 1996 for a title, so from 1992-1996 mccallum was still dangerous and a better ****ing match up than " roy ritchie or gilbert baptist or steve frank"
so call out all the dates from 1996 on up BUT you have a good 3 year gap from 1992-1995 where all the above were strongly in the mix. so ****ing what if some of them had lost.....they were huge names that he didnt fight for some reason or another but managed to fight robert allen 3 damn times...and dont give me the 8 pound super middle division...deals could have been reached if you want it..see sugar ray vs don lalonde.
no, your turn douche bag...time to go school
    :deal

Instead of just accepting you're so so very wrong, you further reveal what a ****wit you are. You clearly don't understand boxing one bit.

Bernard Hopkins is well-known and powerful now, but he obviously wasn't after he was UD'd by Jones in May '93 at the age of 28. Do you think this largely unknown failed world title contender had either the profile or the money behind him to go out and secure fights with guys like Nunn and McCallum before he had won a world title?? He only won the vacant IBF belt at the second attempt v Mercado after having to travel to Ecuador for the first fight, that's how little sway Hopkins had at the time.

    You know nothing.

PS: Have a look at your boy Joe's resume before Eubank. And then log out you hypocritical tit.

so your saying...that hopkins has an excuse for not fighting even ONE of these guys????? in 1990s? are you kidding? just because you have 4000 posts doesnt make you a genius. youre misinformed and probably werent even a fan in the 1990s because all these guys were mentioned in the same sentence all the time with hopkins.
and douche bag, im not anti Hopkins or pro joe...i happen to like the pic of joe so put it up in avatar. so keep thinking you know something... sometimes when youre so far behind in a race and dont see anyone anymore you actually think youre in the lead.

You clearly didn't even read my post idiot. Of course I was a fan in the 1990s or how would I know all of that? Read through it, look at the dates and the situations, not one of these fights were viable. Not one. You have thought 'Hopkins fought in the 90s, so did these guys, therefore he should've fought them'. You know nothing of the actual situation in reality. Read the post and don't be stubborn and stupid. Hopkins only won a world title in 1995 after he had to travel to Ecuador and back. NOT ONE of the guys you mentioned were fighting in the middleweight division in 1995. McClennan had retired, Eubank had lost his title and was after a rematch, Collins had only just won a world title and knew he could make big money staying at home fighting Eubank and Benn at SUPERMIDDLE. Barkley and Nunn were washed-up, Toney and McCallum were fighting at least 15lbs above Hopkins. Pre-95 Hopkins didn't have the profile or money to justify fights with these already established stars.

You are wrong and you have been owned. Move on, and try and be a little more objective next time.

And who can forget the time that Richard Schaefer had too much pride to use a chauffeur, because the Motor Vehicle Department took away his Driving License because of the Glaucoma, and Oscar appointed Bernard to drive him around, in the big, fine new Ford Limosine, and even outfitted Bernard in a suit with a bowtie and a driver's cap. There was Mr. Shaefer telling off poor Bernard in the kitchen.

Shaefer....."Gotdamn it Bernard, I have been driving myself everywhere for 35 years. Just because some snot nosed kid at the MVD thinks I couldnt see those letters, those assholes pulled my license? Can you believe that. I'm gonna sue the entire ****ing State of California for that."

Bernard...(Grins and Shuffles)....Mmmm Hmm Hmm, Yass Sah, you dont mess wid Mistah Schaefah. I'm sho dey give you yo' driving license back jes as soon as ever. But now, I know you needed to git to de sto' to buy up some stuff, and stop at de Pharmacists. So why dont we test out dat new Ford Limo, it sho nuff a beauty!"

Schaefer....."NO!. Oscar put you up to this, didnt he? I'll not be driven around like some damned involent. I will WALK to the store and **** the MVD."

Bernard then stands there a bit confused.....Oscar appears, he had been hiding in the other room listening.

Oscar....."What are you standing there for? Go drive him to the store!"

Bernard....."Mistah de la Hoya, Suh, I do believes dat Mr. Schaefer has too much pride to allow me to take him Suh."

OScar...."Well, hell then, follow the dumb son of a ***** so he doesnt get lost"

    Bernard....."Yass Suh!"

Bernard gets in the new, fine Limosine bought at cost from a Funeral Home, and follows Shaefer down the road from the GBP Building.

Schaefer......"Bernard, what the Hell are you doing driving next to me?"

Bernard....."I'se tryin to Drive you to de Sto"......"Piggly Wiggly a long ways from here"

I'm all about equal oppurtunity. Hopkins, AKA "Hoke" is a Black Man. Richard Schaefer is a white man, and Oscar is a brown man. The one I cannot stomach the most is Oscar, I'd despise that crossdresser if he were purple.

He is a racist pile of garbage, he should have offered JC his props. In not doing so, he discredited himself.

He thought he won the fight. There have been a million instances where the losing fighter refuses to acknowledge the winner when he feels the score is wrong. That is only natural. If you felt you had just been on the wrong end of an injustice, would you be all smiles and sunshine and sportsmanship? Anyone who would be is just a spineless loser.

Oscar is a 'brown' man? You're a moron.

And Hopkins didn't look too racist when he was consoling Kelly Pavlik.
