It's not just Arum, it's the promotional system in general. The problem in boxing and the double edged sword that it is, makes it tough to get rid of that system. When you have promoters like you do in boxing, the boxer makes more money but promoters have too much power. When you have a system like in the UFC, the fans get better fights but the fighters don't get what they deserve money wise. We need a governing body to rule over boxing, that's the only way. So we don't see these corrupt commissions like the one in Texas.
Arum is not gonna leave the game and neither is Don. He was there ever since Larry Holmes beat Earnie Shavers for the WBC eliminator to fight Norton... Top Rank had its label on the right bottom of the screen of most famous fights others than the ones that had Spike TV there...
Well so is the NFL or the NBA, they are all businesses. The difference is that in boxing, it's unregulated for the most part. There are hundred different belts, weight classes and each state has it's own commission. You have to unify the rules, unify the commissions and make sure there is someone who watches over boxing to make sure sh1t like this doesn't happen. You can't have promoters in charge that's for sure.
honestly I see now difference between Arum and Goldenboy. Very similar. They both put on bad undercard fights and decent main events. The best promoter I have ever seen was Don King. His fights cards were always good.
11 out of 10, ****ing ***** only cares about how much he makes, disregarding any dirty tactics and his killing of the sport you'd think at his age he's made enough $$$, but apparently not
