He is not as bad as some say. He can't box, but he always comes to fight. Boxing always has fighters like him. He's fought the best, and fell short. Abraham twice, Pav and Ward...all champions, Miranda can go to sleep saying he fought the best, and he has my respect.
He is guilty of comitting the same sin many other good punchers do. He trains thinking fighter will not be able to take his power. He needs to train thinking a fighter will give him hell for 12 rounds. You need to be ready for that if you want to be the best.
Not that I disagree, I think that was a good summation of Clottey. Just trying to figure out how he went from gatekeeper to tomato can in one post.
you hit the nail on the head with this post, miranda was too caught up on over powering and trying to knock his opponents out when he in reality he forgot what got him to the top, sound boxing. many power hitters have learned this harsh lesson, best example is one of my favorite fighters david tua. tua started off as a brilliant combination puncher that wore his opponents down by working the body then following through with devastating shots. but when he started knocking out so many people, he became keen on throwing nothing but his money punch.
Partially true, but not all his fault. Jose Bonilla is a great trainer in the gym. But when it came to fight nght, at least for Edison, he didnt have a gameplan on how to use the skills he worked with in the ring. At least not a 2nd game plan. That is where Joe Goossen will make a huge difference. Miranda will have plan A, plan B and plan C. Joe is great in the corner and has what it takes to get Miranda over the hump.
Miranda doesn't have a plan B or C and wouldn't be able to execute it if he did. He is what he is, a straight ahead brawler. He doesn't try to establish a jab or walk people into shots. He doesn't show any defense. He either knocks the opponent cold or they knock him cold. It's the main reason his fights are exciting and why he is still relevant despite losing all his big fights.
Pre Goossen he didnt have a plan to follow. Goossen says he is the best learner he has ever taught so it is yet to be seen if he can follow a plan. Talk to me after the Stieglitz fight.
