How bad was Kevin McBride

I always wondered whether Mike really gave a damn by then. He sure didn't look like it. I think it was just money.

 

Some at the time, said that he was treeified of losing in the ring.

After the famous press conference brawl with Lewis, it was suggested that he did it to sabotage the fight.

I believed that to an extent.

I think that he saw Williams and McBride as being gime fights.

Everybody else certainly did at the time!

 

It's a horrible shame guys like Iron Mike, Bowe, and Holyfield lost tens of millions of dollars.

I always wished there was a pension fund for retired fighters.

 

Absolutely!

They were coining it at the time, but it was all going to evaporate!

The most successful heavyweight champions, were not the ones who were the best in the ring, they were the ones that mange their money best!

 

I think that's why "Money" Mayweather picked Holmes as his favorite. That man knew how and where to put his money, and good for him.

 

Tyson is one of most honest boxers out there.

 

He says he’d lose to virtually any classic fighter in history, he smokes 40k worth of weed per month, and he never committed a sexual assault. He says what’s convenient.

 

Wasn't Mike winning until the 6th round? I think I had him up 5 rounds to zilch. I can't make myself watch that bout again, even if you paid me.

Anyways, McBride was most likely a low C level heavyweight and just a big friggin guy in there. A poor man's Lou Savarese, if I may be so bold.

 

I distinctly remember Mike throwing arm shots all night and me realizing he couldn't plant his feet because of his knee surgery from the Danny Wiliams bout.
