You can believe that all you want chief. But he's clearly not. One 1 million ppv fight v a fellow mexican who happens to be the son of a legend does not put you in the same category as Floyd and Pac.

He may get there, but he's not there yet. And THAT'S a fact!

Me? Very few people would agree with you mate. You're clearly a fan and are biased towards Canelo.

Saying Canelo is currently as big as mayweather/pac is nothing short of delusional.

I don't even care, I'm not a Canelo hater. I don't particularly like him but I'd like to see him become as big as Pac/May because it's good for the sport. But he is in no way, shape or form even close to that yet.

You can't deny this, Canelo has sold more PPVs than Pacquiao and Mayweather when both those fighters were Canelo's age.

Canelo is doing fantastic, and is trending to be as big, possibly bigger than they were.

I've given you plenty of facts to support my opinion of why Canelo is at that level of popularity. If you choose to deny it that's all on you.

Biggest star in the sport at the moment.

He has always had both HBO and Golden Boy pushing him to become just that. And he has.

Not at the Mayweather or Pacquiao level yet, but incredibly not too too far off for a 26/27 year old.

We all know the boxing world and its fans, though. If he loses to Golovkin, the train comes to a big halt.

Agree with everything but the last sentence. His success up to this point has had nothing to do with GGG and will pretty much continue regardless of the outcome. He has already proven that, unlike Floyd, his success is not predicated on a 0 in the loss column.

A loss to Gennady, a fight most are expecting him to lose, will not diminish his popularity that much. I'm willing to bet that even if he loses he will still outdraw GGG or any boxer with the possible exception of Joshua(as long as he's still undefeated).

He's below Joshua and Pacquiao right now. Above Golovkin but not by much it seems. Biggest boxing star from north america.

Pac has not broken the 1mill ppv mark in about 6 years without having Floyd or Marquez as his dance partner.

Joshua has had how many ppv events?

More people are more familiar with Pacquiao than Canelo. Joshua's fight with Klitschko was a huge boxing event.

As far as I know, GBP hasn't released the official numbers from their fights. I remember when Canelo fought Liam Smith they were saying that they were happy with 300k because that was a speculated number, but we never got proof that it sold 300k. Because we haven't gotten official numbers the most I can do is guess what his popularity is in comparison to other boxers. I know Pacquiao has a huge following/support from fans and Joshua seems to have the entire UK behind him. Canelo's actual Mexican fanbase seems dissatisfied with him and boxing is in a huge decline in America which is why I think he has to be below Pacquiao and Joshua, both of whom have has their official numbers released.

The numbers(and that seems to be what we are talking about here) simply don't back up your argument.
