not at all barrera > naz , you think otherwise. naz was good but the money ruined him before maxium potential was forefilled , then he got beat wanted a gimmie fight then ran with his cash. this a game where did it go after the barrera fight ability wise he was great shame he was a mental midget
Lets be fair .. the thread title means everyone will subconsciously think the same thing straight away.
Naz was great from an entertainment perspective and brought a massive buzz to British boxing but he would always have got found out against a top level elite fighter with sound fundamentals in much the way Barrera did him. Against lesser fighters his unorthodoxy would see him out of any trouble though; the Kevin Kelley fight comes to mind.
The whole point of this thread is what do you think he COULD have achieved had this not been the case. Arguing that he couldn't due to the money ruining him is absolutely irrelevent. Did you even bother reading the OP? :tired
He could have achieved much more if he hadn't been trained up in the Ingle style from a young age. He had huge power, great reflexes and good all round speed. He also had freakishly long arms. If a good trainer had got a hold of him and taught him fundamental boxing 101, he would have been much much better.
he already had achieved so what does it matter what i think:bart 80 million later what is there left to achieve apart from taking on the worlds elite , which is where is mental attitude would have and did let him down
lozkina,I think he was massive really.Undisputed world champion, fighting champion, beat some really good fighters, exciting, bags of talent,no great weaknesses.BUT,I don't think he'd have beat Barrera as long as he'd got the proverbial hole.Just didn't come from the same hard background inside or outside the ring.I don't believe the excuses, they're ten a penny in boxing, and at the end of the day they mean nothing.Plus,he,or the people behind him, avoided a few of his contemporaries. He said he was going to be a legend, and he isn't,mate.
A bit like politics I think most if not all sports careers end in tears.I thought Naz a little kid from Sheffield was and is a legend.i hope he has held on to most of his cash and enjoys it.
Just read a comment about the Kevin Kelley fight.I think Kelley was slightly past his best, but he gave Naz hell and wasn't exactly out when the fight ended.Regarding Barrera,Naz retired one fight after and never went after another.Barrera wanted Amir Khan again after their fight.Hungry fighter.
Even if he was more dedicated, I'm not sure he could have achieved a hell of a lot more. It's well documented he had serious trouble with his hands. He basically hit too hard for his own good.
Fair comment Ted,if we are honest I don't suppose most boxers are the brightest of buttons, having said that I suppose that there are more people like Cleverley etc in the sport.
Froch entertains in the ring. Naz set the standard for the whole show, the buildup, the interviews, THE RING WALKS, everything and he had power to be spectacular in the ring aswell. He knew what professional boxing was about Mayweather could only ever dream of being a character like that
