its not about aesthetics atall. im not saying they have to be ripped. look at ali. probably one of the greatest conditioned boxers of all time.

if arreola didnt have that extra weight he would be that little bit faster, sharper, lighter on his feet and have better stamina. basically just a bit better and when your fighting or a world title that extra inch can take you a mile. if i was an arreola fan and paying money to watch him i would be pissed off he hasn't got in proper shape.

tyson fury in the uk pisses me. the guy talks about fighting for a world title. how hard is it to lose a few pounds and be in the best shape possible to give your self a realistic chance? ****ing ridiculous!!!

    excellent record

but a **** record when he never fought a guy ranked in the top 100.

he did make a career as an entertainment act, but as a boxer with a career...he was still fighting toughman type opponents, not boxers

Depends on the guy. A man cutting pounds has an affect on his stamina and can adversely affect his body during pounding cardio training.

If you were him/them would you take 15 pounds off and feeling like ass over a little less mobility and feeling great? :think

Honestly, I think the reason so many of these guys are fat has more to do with the trend in modern societies towards obesity more so than their fitness levels.

yeah good post....... its easy to give into unhealthy foods now as like you say they are everywhere and old habits die hard. if you've eaten unhealthy foods all your life and never had a strong work ethic and tendency to stay active their's a good chance you never will have.

i just feel if your gonna make a go of a sport like boxing your conditioning should be your #1 priority, it is for some fighters as you can see by there near perfect physique, but for some they just seem like there hoping it will end well rather than making it happen through hard work. ****ing stupid.

You don't have to run anywhere to be a boxer. Hell you don't even have to exert yourself if you like James Toney.

im not saying they should lose it in the training camp because yeah that would damage them. i mean in there general lifestyle. just jog a mile a day everyday, eat healthyish and don't drink booze. millions live like that and there body isnt a weapon for making money.

like ricky gervais said " what advice do you give to an obese person who eats 10 pie and chips a day? nine pie and chips maybe..... its a start!"

toney and others like it are a waste of a talent he could of been so much better if he didn't lack total self control. Don't get me wrong he was still very very good

No not everyone is gonna be ripped BUT there is a difference between not being shredded and being just flat out fat, nobody should show up being just flat out fat.
