nut:nut I could care less if it bothers you or not. You're the one that called me out *******. Mayweather's being ACCUSED of "cherrypicking" was well documented. Just because you're EASILY amused by who the Pretty One has fought so far, doesn't discount my belief that his SKILLS haven't SERIOUSLY been put to the test. The Pretty One proclaims himself at being the best, TOO BAD he doesn't want to prove it. But why would he want to, with SIMPLETONS like you walking around. :smoke
Great thread. Floyd is the consummate professional. He shows up and performs EVERY time out. Makes "A" Level fighters look like amateurs. Incredible fighter.
I respect his skills, and he is a great fighter, but he is way overrated. He had what it took to beat a prime Cotto and Margarito, but he will never be excused for not fighting them years ago. Instead he takes on Baldomir, Marquez, and Oscar was good fight moneywise for him, but he will never get credit for the wins over the last couple of fighters who were too small, limited, or old. Had he beaten the top WW's of his generation he would of easily been rated above Pacquiao. Instead he finds excuses and desperately tries to persuade people why he should be the best. He should be doing that in the ring, not out of it.
1. Mayweather did not duck Cotto. Proof here: http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/1585/mayweather-challenges-tszyu-hoya-cotto/ and opinion backed by solid fact here: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=20397&more=1 2. Mayweather did not duck Margarito. MichiganWarrior summed it up quite well. Not to mention that Floyd hated Bob Arum and there were multiple reports that Arum would only let Floyd fight him if he stayed with Top Rank. Floyd wasn't going for that. 3. Which smaller opponents do you speak of? Marquez? Marquez challenged Floyd! If you recall Marquez said, An ass whoopen later, and it was all about the weight. :huhAnd don't even start with those 2 pounds. Those 2 pounds did not set a compubox connect record. Speed, precision, and skill did. You could say that Baldo was limited, but he was the lineal champ, and all you clowns sit and cry that Floyd wouldn't fight the best. Brian Kenny gave him a ration of **** for not fighting Baldomir. Folks on this board say he was ducking Baldomir. So get your story straight. Was Floyd scared of Baldomir's size and strength which everyone claimed? Or now that Floyd dismantled him, he was cherry picking? If Floyd doesn't get credit for fighting a much larger Baldomir, surely fighting Oscar at 154 earns him respect in your book, does it not? atsch To any non-*******, Mayweather is the best. Not the greatest ever, but definitely the best active fighter today. You want to talk excuses we can discuss blood tests, clitoris gloves, itchy socks, cutoff dates, catchweights, draining, and bricks.
:good I have to hand it to you. You are by far head & shoulders above your fellow Mayweather fans when it comes to explaining your self. At the very least you have plausible arguments that might convince some people. The thing is that your main argument was blown out of the water by the Pretty One himself "my mind isn't on boxing" comment. Being proclaimed the "best active fighter" is a MOOT point if Mayweather is on an endless vacation. :rofl:thumbsup
Then what the **** caused this? This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected ...Did someone else ask this or can I call first?
I don't see your point. Michael Jordan was still the greatest active basketball player when he was striking out on the baseball diamond, right? His mind wasn't on basketball, but he was no less skilled. Don't forget, he came back and won 3 more championships.
If the reason is anything but cowardice or not wanting to lose his zero, I would also respect him in the same way you do.
Prove that it's cowardice. You probably called him a coward when he didn't fight Baldo before Judah. You probably called him a coward during the DLH negotiations. You probably called him a coward when Hatton was being hyped after he beat Tszyu. You probably called him a coward last year when Shane was calling him out. Was it cowardice then? No. Is it cowardice now? No. The truth of the matter is, Floyd fights when he is ready, not when you think he should. When he does, he outclasses everyone he faces.
