You think you're mad now? Wait until it becomes obvious the WBC is in bed with Canelo.

^^That's the only problem I see with Gennady being able to get a chance to fight for the WBC belt.

He's the mandatory so he should be able to get the fight immediately with the winner. But Sulaiman (and his father, RIP) were notorious for allowing the cashcows of the sport to basically call the shots on who they fought. It started well before Mayweather, but Floyd is a well known recent example who was basically allowed to fight anyone he wanted and the WBC allowed him to keep his belts without any trepidation.

That would suck if the winner of Cotto-Canelo were able to circumvent the rules and fight someone other than Golovkin for their next match. If they don't want to fight Gennady, I see no problem with it. I just hope they relinquish the title so we can get one step closer to seeing a unified champion in the division.

How can "boxing fans" continue to dissect what boxers, promoters, and trainers say and not be able to read between the lines? I just don't get it. Boxing fans are both the smartest and the dumbest of the bunch.

Why do you care if anyone defends it? It's simply the reality of the sport. It's nothing new. Canelo is the A-side. The WBC will let him do what he wants. Triple G can accept his terms if he wants a big money fight. If he thinks he can beat Canelo he should drop down and do it, as it would help his status a lot as far as becoming a bigger star. The weight shouldn't be an issue for him considering his fight night weight and the fact he stays in shape year round. Should they fight at 160 in a perfect world? Of course. This world is driven by money though and Canelo brings more in. Hopkins fought Oscar @ 158 years ago. Obviously Oscar was always an A-side. Ever since Pac started draining opponents its become more common and accepted.

    Agree 100% Great post abuffy
The bottom line is neither Canelo or Cotto want no part of Golovkin because the know in their heart s they cannot beat him
Ive said this all along " How can anyone claim to be world middleweight champion yet refuse to fight at 160" ??
I agree boxing has gone crazy

The politics and business aspects of boxing are great at turning fans away from the sport.

WBC has been sucky in the past, but I'll give credit where it's due. Thus far, WBC has been working to get Golovkin in the ring with the WBC titleholder.

Canelo is 25. If he doesn't feel like fighting Golovkin at 160, I don't have a problem with it. Golovkin said he would fight anyone from 154 to 168. As we just saw with his Margarito like PPV numbers, he doesn't call the shots. If he wants Canelo, he needs to take his **** to 154/155. If he really wants a big name, then he needs to fight Ward, but he seems scared.

Gennady is a FIGHTER!! he wants to unify all the Middleweight titles. If Cotto & Canelo don't feel right at 160 then let them come in at whatever weight they want as long as its under 160 BUT same goes for their opponents , Its the middleweight title so its contested at 160 pounds max

He doesn't have to fight GGG at 160 (well, actually he does since the belt is sanctioned at 160), but he has no right to tell MW's at what weight to fight at. If they want to come in 159, they can. If they want to come in at 157, they can. Canelo can come in at 155, but the MW should be able to come in at the limit if they so desire.

If not, then Canelo is making his own weightclass and is damaging the sport of boxing.

Golovkin doesn't want Canelo. He just wants his belt.

What is a point of beating another "blown up junior middle" beaten by Trout ?
