How come Wards win over Kessler gets so much acclaim when....

that's being subjective tho. you can only do what you can in your era. arguably there was not a more difficult fight ward could have had when he beat kessler. Calzaghe would have had to have faced Jones for this to be true in his case.

 

Alot of ignorant ESB users say any fighter from any country in the UK is fighting at home if it is in a different country still in the UK atsch

 

I know that Calzaghe was a really good boxer but he has a bs resume. The same applies for RJJ and Hopkins middleweight days.
There are good names on the list but not what would make you a all time great.

 

Still we are talking of the fights and the fighters, and Eubank was the more accomplished better resume fighter,

 

Anyway. Why the praise for Wards win over Kessler and not Calzaghes over Eubank

 

i look at things differently i suppose.

you asked the question, that's my answer. Kessler was number 1 in the division, Eubank was about number 10.

 

I have always wondered why the Brits on here slag off legit fighters like Calzaghe and Froch yet worship and hype complete frauds like Hamed, Khan, and Haye. It makes zero sense. None.

 

Here's some real talk from a NPOV:

Calzaghe's win over Eubank and Ward's win over Kessler are both good.

Calzaghe's win over still-prime Kessler (the last fight of his prime, really) is VERY good, one of his absolute best, and a good deal better than any Ward victory to date.

Ward, however, is on pace to have a better overall quality reign than Calzaghe provided he maintains his level of competition and keeps winning. (maybe even better in quality and quantity, depending on how it goes)

Look at the fighters. Eubank was the same age as Kessler with a similar amount of fights and not an unwell double vision suffering fighter.
I know that you are young and would be around 10 when Eubank retired, so it is difficult for you to get an accurate account, as you wouldnt know too much and remember Eubanks career whilst Kesslers is at a time you can remember.
If you look at the time Calzaghe beat Eubank, Eubank had victories over 2 fighters in the Ring top 10, a SD loss to another and 3 of the fighters in the top 10 had lost or go on to lose to fighters Eubank had a victory over.

 

How do you work that out when Bika and Kessler are Calzaghe left overs and Green is less accomplished than many of Calzaghes victories like Mkertchyan.
Abraham was coming off of 2 very clear S6 losses and has a terrible SMW resume and is a far less accomplished SMW than Veit
