Lol, you doooooo get a good chuckle at times here on ESB. From memory, I thought Wilder did sod all up to around the 9th. And after that he was lack lustre. I honestly thought he was doing some strange weirdo 'playing possum' routine for more than two thirds of the fight. I kept thinking as we entered the championship rounds, "Wilders gonna go for broke anytime now" He didn't ..... I'll definitely have to re-watch this just in case I missed something that some others are seeing.
I for one am pumped for this fight and I’m 100% rooting for Parker. He seems like a great guy and I would love it if he could reclaim a portion of the heavyweight championship.
I think thats what a lot of people seem to be forgetting about Parker due to how many times he's been knocked down and the Joyce fight, that he has a decent chin. He hasn't really looked hurt before despite being in with some big punchers. The Joyce KO was pure exhaustion, and the Zhang knockdowns were so quick and Parker was ready to go straight after. Hrgovic for example had a quick knockdown against Zhang but looked untroubled by Dubois' best shots, he seemed more bothered by the headbutts.
Parker does still have a decent chin, but the Joyce stoppage was due to accumulation damage, not exhaustion (though exhaustion no doubt played its part). Dubois does seem to have some concussive power, but lacks the brute heavy handedness of Zhang. Closer to a Whyte type puncher, but two handed and more versatile on the offence. He can definitely shake Parker up if he lands, but it's not going to be an instant KO type shot I think, and even if it knocks him down I think Parker can rally back unless it comes off the back of some serious sustained leather.
Dubois reminds me a bit of Hasim Rahman, from his build and attributes, to the way he fights out of a wide braced stance, and the way he wings his OH right. Like Rahman he can be really dangerous against the top guys, but come up short against the slightly lower tier guys (not that Parker is really lower tier). I think speed and consistency and smart movement will be keys for Parker here, and I hope he can pull it off. I thought Joshua would flatten Dubois though and I was dead wrong, so there's something to be said for Dubois's confidence and momentum coming into the fight. It might be enough to swing the tide in a close fight. But logically I expect Parker to come out on top.
Parker won't wet himself like AJ and become a punching bag Parker struggles down the line when he gets tired...but Dubious will struggle when tired if Parker can give him the correct work. AJ & Hurgovic we're too low output and basic to make Dubious struggle with his stamina.
