No. Looked barely better than his usual self imo. Which is still worse than he looked a few years ago. People need to understand how much the opponent in front of you determines how good you look. He had someone in front of him that offered almost no resistance. Canelo hislmself looked fairly ordinary, for Canelo. Imo
His accuracy is gone. As is his arsenals of punches. He jabs then uses hooks and overhand punches that aren't finding the head. Even his hooks to the body is landing more on the opponents elbow more than landing on actual body. He is beating the hell out of shoulders and arms. It's his power that keeps the opponent from throwing. Yea, its landing on shoulders and arm but they felt the power. Shell up or get knocked out. With his frame he needs to add in the uppercut. He is built like Tyson and Davidson. That may get him more early KO
I didn't even bother watching it. If he didn't look dominant against a LMW champion then he really is finished. The fight was a farce from the day it was signed. Let's hope it's Benavidez next.
Canelo couldnt knockout someone who did absolutely nothing. Canelo is still a great fighter but he's on the decline for sure.
Imo there came a point at which Canelo could have buried Charlito with an avalanche of punches. He was cutting off the ring well and had the fearful prey cornered various times. Had he thrown long combos of varying speed and power instead of two or three planetbusters, he would have scored a stoppage, if not a highlight reel KO. Any of the other Great Mexican Boxers likely would have. Canelo did not. The whole card was pretty crappy, tbh. I am Jack's disappointed lizard brain.
He looked better than he has in his last fights, but this performance was against a 154 pounder so I can't give him much credit.
Canelo looked solid, fought a great fight and did everyone but knock out a guy who ran the whole night and had no chance of winnibg. That said, if Canelo fights Bivol any time soon, Bivol gives him a beating. Benevidez is still waiting for his fight. If Canelo beats him legitimately, he deserves all the credit he gets. Who knows if he will ever give the young man a chance or fight Bivol again.
Dude, the interview where Bivol got asked about that fight is hilarious. https://youtube.com/shorts/mHbHZgoch4A?si=nm4HAsd8uB_-TgfJ Just that reaction of looking at the camera, to his translator and then repeating it to the interviewer to make sure he heard it right. Like he's making absolutely sure that this isn't some lost in translation shenanigans. And then he replies "I think he should fight Joshua instead." Easily one of the funniest boxing related moments I've seen so far
Not the same quickness, timing, counters, explosiveness anymore. Perhaps he should minimize moving forward like that, those punches were reddening his forehead. Be a bit like Zhang.
Hahahaha! I think that was millions of people’s reaction when they first heard about that. Thing about that fight is it would be a rare case of the bigger fighter making the smaller guy look slow and bewildered
