Canelo showed up to fight like the pro that he is. He’s not what he was but at least he was prepared physically and mentally to actually fight.

Unfortunately for all of us he ran into the most pathetic coward who ever laced up.

Canelo proved what we all knew about him before the fight. Charlo proved what some of us already knew about him too.

Charlo didn't earn his respect, Canelo had zero worries that night.

We would know better if Charlo would have reached for his shield.

Difficult to say. Canelo was in there with a guy who only came to survive, not win. So, Canelo was able to do anything he wanted offensively and really didn't need to be defensive minded.

Charlo looked kind of soft though. He has the skinnier less muscular torso of the two Charlo brothers. I can see him fighting at middleweight though. Charlo was focused, healthy and durable, but in way over his head, and he knew it once he was in there with Canelo.

You know, i think the only fighters that really go out on their shield are fighters that really believe they can and will win to the very end. Hearns vs Hagler was a good example. Sometimes fighters just adjust to their circumstances.

This ^. Shadow still trying to tell people the pi.ss falling on them is rain I see. Seen so many say, "Well, He just doesn't haver to cut weight." Which is BS. It doesn't work that way. Jermell is cut and in great shape at 154. If all he did was not cut weight, then that's why he looked more soft and not nearly as cut as he would in his regular division. Hell, all one had to do was look at Oscar at 154 then at 160 against Sturm. Coming in soft will never be as effective as coming in in great shape.

The way Charlo fought it was like he was saying "please Daddy don't hurt me"

He was as strong as a bull, good cardio but still very one dimensional overall. No setups just telegraphed haymakers over and over. That won't work elites which is why he fights Mall next.

Besides Bivol, what elite opponents are a possibility for him?

Obviously Benavidez. You might not think he is elite but he is generally regarded as a 50/50 fight for Canelo if you ask anyone with a boxing brain. That basic Canelo offense won't be a problem for Benavidez imo.

I’ve said it plenty of times, Benavidez passes the eye test, but who on his 10 year 27 fight resume has he beat that makes you think he’s 50/50 with Big Cinnamon? He had the perfect opportunity against Plant to show his level, and you can blame the crappy ref job all you want, but that was a lackluster performance by a guy called The Monster.

    Because hes a defensive Genius?
Canelos basic offense was enough to take out Plant.
If Benavidez beats Canelo, its gonna be by drowning him in volume while not getting knocked out in the process.
Its not going to be the Bivol Gameplan.
Hes gonna have to beat him his own way, the way he beat Lemieux. Pressure and walk him down, punish him when he gasses against the ropes
