Looked good, but Hennessey has to match him with a higher class opponent next. He has proved he can put away the Maddalone's of this world.
People used to complain that Khan didn't clean up domestically either but now who honestly cares that he didn't fight Murray? Price is high risk low reward, now ideally both will make the step up onto the World level and we get a mega fight with them somewhere down the line but if Fury makes the step up and Price doesn't then nobody will care that they never fought.
I agree. 23 is a baby for a HW, AND Fury only had a short amateur career. There's no need to rush whatsoever. Fury would be a handful even now for any HW but he will just get better and better if he spends the next two years on 'learning' fights against different styles of opponent, and gradually increasing the quality of opponent.
What I'm most pleased about is his body acually. It tells the story alot of the times. He looked alot more well prepared for this bout then anyother.
Tyson fury is one of the awkward fighters I've seen, yes. His technique is getting tighter but he is not a natural and he is still relying too much on his height and reach. When he faces a similarly built opponent who can box(price, klitchko) he will be shown up.
He looked very good but Maddalone was poor. I'm not going to complain about the level of his opponent, Fury is just keeping busy and is 23 years old and improving with every fight. I would imagine his next opponent will be much better. Im sure of it.
this fight showed huge improvements for fury. his technique will continue improve with time but he showed a more disciplined and patient performance from behind a better jab. Also as others have said his physical appearance is finally starting to look up to scratch.
Actually Tyson Fury is top ten in the WBC and he is top ten in the Ring rankings so you're already wrong and ******ed.
He's 23. What should his LOC/Resume look like considering he shouldnt make a run for the title for another 3-4 yrs IMO.:think And as to the OP.......He looked absolutely fantastic. Fury is still young, he isn't type of fighter that will duck top competition he just knows that he still ahs a lot to learn and he is very young especially for a HW he probably won't be in his prime before he turns 30
I'm not defending Wilder; I'm not even a fan of his. I like Fury much better than Wilder. Still, his career is kind of stalling if he's screwing around with guys like Maddalone and Rogan; he could easily beat up on the Povetkins and the Adameks of the world right now.
Eh maddalone was the ideal opponent for furys management to consider at this time. Fury has hit the ceiling in terms of his uncoordinated brawling and how far it can get him. He's now trying to box more behind the jab and be more technical in his approach, an obvious step really when you're 6 foot 9 and have some natural ability. Anyway maddalone was the perfect set up for a tall jabber, slow, aged with terrible defence, but with a willingness to keep walking forwards without adapting. It was to see whether Tyson had the discipline to stay behind the jab and set up his shots from there, rather than just brawl. If he could, great. If not, oh well he was going to win anyway. Not so good if you wanted to see a competitive fight, but that's not what it was about, it was about continuing the experiment started with rogan. Very few fights made in boxing are supposed to be competitive now anyway unfortunately.
