How did he get up from THAT ?!!

I always thought the shot Chavez took from Randall that floored him was pretty big. A right hand straight on the jaw and he got up in an instant

 

Featherweight champ Shozo Saijo got up at the count of 8 from one of the hardest right hand bombs I have ever seen land on a fighter`s chin, and the right hand was courtesy of none other than Antonio Gomez who was a terrific hitter especially with the right. How Sho got up from that punch I`ll never know, incredible really especially since he never saw it coming AND walked right into it... amazing. He got dropped twice more in the same round (5th) befoe the referee finally waved it off.

 

Carnera vs. Baer was pretty ridiculous. Dempsey - Firpo had its moments too.

For a more recent example, Holyfield-Savarese. Savarese gets hit with a perfect hook late in the fight and is dropped instantly. But somehow gets up and goes the distance.

 

LaStarza vs Marciano (rematch). Marciano hits LaStarza clean with a right uppercut that sends him through the ropes, and he is clearly on ***** street, yet he gets up and continues to get battered.

Norris vs Mugabi, Norris nailed Mugabi with a great left hook that ultimately, won him the fight. He nailed Mugabi with more clean, hard blows, and finally Mugabi goes down, I have no idea how he got up. He was clearly out on his feet.

Hatton vs Mayweather, Mayweather hit Hatton with the "Check Hook" (left hook), and Hatton center ring goes down, but it was in the corner, and after the shot smashes his face into the ring post.

Mercardo vs Shavers, Shavers hit Mercardo with a right hand from hell, and Mercardo went down hard, but he got up (very hurt though). The punch acctually imploded Shavers glove (as legend says).

 

The right hand Ingo sucker punched Floyd Patterson with to register the second knockdown in their first bout was a monstrous shot. Of course Floyd saw the referee counting as he got up from the first knockdown, and was so dazed that he thought Ruby Goldstein was administering a standing eight count to Ingo on a knockdown Patterson himself had scored against his challenger. Frequently, the punch that puts a knockout victim out for the count is one he never sees coming, and Floyd obviously was in that situation when Ingo flattened him that second time.

While Floyd was certainly dropped and knocked silly on nearly countless occasions, he ALWAYS got back up on his own, and would have beaten a slower ten count both times the referee tolled it to completion in his two matches with Liston.

Marciano got up from the hardest punch ever landed by history's most prolific knockout artist, Archie Moore. The first right hand Yvon Durelle decked Archie with was described by the Ole' Mongoose as the hardest single punch he was ever on the receiving end of in his long, storied career.

Although Cuevas's chief second rushed in to stop his bout against Hearns, the fact remains that Pipino got up from Tommy's devastating right hand at the count of seven. Stribling also got up from a monstrous round 15 counter right at the hands of Schmeling, though the referee again stopped it.

It is an extraordinary achievement when a boxer can deliver a huge knockdown punch in round 15 of a bruising war. When the recipient of such a bomb can get back up on his feet so late in a grueling endurance contest to finish the scheduled distance, that can be even more amazing. By round 14 in Manila, the punches of Ali and Frazier were essentially reduced to mere slaps, according to ringsiders. But Muhammad got up quickly in the FOTC, as did Bonavena against Ali after the best hook Muhammad ever delivered. Bazooka Limon also managed to struggle to his feet after Bobby Chacon punctuated their legendary rivalry with his distinctive right handed pitch and
follow-through.

Dempsey nailed Tunney flush with his hook as Gene ricocheted off the ropes directly into it. Tunney himself believed that the first hook Jack flattened Willard with was the hardest punch recorded on film in the 20th Century's first 50 years.

Ritchie Kates pitched Matt Franklin face first in the dirt, but the future Saad Muhammad rose up to stop him with a shot of his own which sent Kates stumbling forward completely across the ring.

Carmen Basilio dropped Kid Gavilan with a double hook which looks tremendous on the film footage. Considering Gavilan's fabled chin, one might comfortably assume Basilio delivered a lethal sock to his head. (As for Carmen's right, most of you have seen what it did to Tony Marino. Like Larry Holmes, George Foreman, Jim Brown and Bob Gibson, this is a man not to be messed with, no mattter how old he gets.)

 

Yes, good one! Ribalta took some devastating shots in that one. Probably should've been given the benefit of the doubt to make it those last 90 seconds or so, for a bit of a moral victory.

And that reminds me of Tyson-Jesse Ferguson. Tyson's uppercut that floored him and apparently broke his nose. Ferguson went down HARD on his back but still managed to get up.
