It took him a couple of rounds to really get warmed up but besides that, I thought his jab was great and he really controlled the fight. Even though he got hurt, he took the shots well and then came back like a true champion and boxed Yarde's ears off.
Each to their own I just feel Yarde needs abit more work to get a stap & Kovalev said this,I would think he'd know.
I've been saying since late 2014 early 2015 that he was declining. The Kovalev who destroyed Campillo, Thompson, White, Sillahk, Cleverly etc. was an absolute monster and that for me has always been Krusher at his absolute best. This Krusher This content is protected
He's lucky that his amazing jab is still there to save the day. He's much slower now, and his power doesn't look the same. Still a very hard to beat fighter, who can be somehow competitive at the top level.
he was a monster back then a true assassin, still think his best performances was his dismantling of pascal x2. no else can stop pascal even now! hes as tough as they get. its brilliant he is still winning big fights with less power, killer instinct, stamina and more wear and tear, vulnerability. Thats what great fighters do!
Yeah he's mostly winning on boxing ability and mental fortitude these days Kovalev didn't drop or seriously hurt Mikhalkin Didn't drop or seriously hurt Alvarez in 19 rounds over the course of 2 fights, the same Alvarez who was hurt numerous times by Prieto and in desperate trouble in the 6th And he took 11 rounds to get Yarde out of there Pascal is without question the most iron-jawed LHW on the planet of his generation IMO and Kovalev brutalized the crap out of him x 2. Prime Kovalev would blast all of the above out of there before the halfway mark at the very latest
His power is gone and his gas tank is still a liability Jab, use of range, foot work and defense were mostly good Not sure I think he beats the other belt holders
