How Did pacquiao Perform So Well in the First Marquez Rematch?

He stuck to the game plan, to be honest and this is no excuse its the truth, for the first Marquez fight and the Morales fight Manny had allot of **** going on lots of distractions.

we saw probably the best of him in that rematch... I have no idea why he hasnt been able to box more like that though...

 

JMM had an off day

 

Yeah he fought almost perfectly that night, I always said it was easily his best performance. That whole "new and improved Pacquiao at 135 and uP" was nonsense.

All the first 4 fights were incredibly close.

There was no more than a couple of rounds in any of them.

People go way overboard with how one guy or the other supposedly dominated a particular fight.

If they fought 10 times, they'd all be hairs breath close...outside of the hard to predict HUGE KO.

People forget that we were a whisker away from never seeing 2-4 in the saga.

In many parts of the world,the first fight would have been stopped in the very first round. 10 more seconds of that round and Manny would have stopped it the old fasioned way.

Funny how life turns out.

 

He underestimated Pac's speed in the first fight. You can't really gauge how fast he is when you first meet him in the ring. So of course JMM was going to be a bit overwhelmed. But once he solved the equation he knew he was an eager nerd in an advanced math class. In the 2nd fight he boxed better. To this day I don't understand why people underrate JMM's ability to survive the knockdowns. Larry Merchant, the hater, downplayed them while he was talking about Marquez. He said something along the lines of it being overrated. How can that **** be overrated? It's the ultimate display of heart and resiliency. Pac is one of the best finishers in the game. To be hurt and in deep trouble and to not only survive but win rounds against such a skull-cracking demon like Pacquiao is nothing less than admirable.

 

Hell he got outboxed in that fight

 

First fight he was unrefined brawler, second he had come into his own and showed the ATG he was and why he is above Marquez in the ATG standings, If I remember right, Marquez won most of his rounds after thumbing Pacquiao.
The third, Pacquiao like everyone else was suprised by Marquez' new strenght, going into that fight they thought they could toy with Marquez, even beat him in his own game(counter-punching)
Fourth fight Pacquiao again adjusted to Marquez's new physical prowess, but made one mistake and got sparked

 

He trained well and stuck to the plan. Moreover, he wasn't a megastar yet, so he wasn't ****ing around with a lot of non-boxing bull**** like he's done ever since he became incredibly famous after beating De La Hoya.

The fact of the matter is that Manny Pacquaio has done progressively worse each time he stepped into the right with JMM. In the first fight, he dropped him three times early and was very competitive late. He was also never seriously hurt and would have won if not for a very confused judge.

In the second fight, he only dropped JMM once and was visibly staggered for the first time in their rivalry. This fight was very close and could have gone either way. He really did not separate himself from Marquez here, so I don't know wtf you're talking about.

The third fight was again close, though JMM landed most of the telling blows, fought the fight at his pace, and deserved the victory.

In the fourth fight, well... we all know what happened there.

Your rationale of Pac being "surprised" by JMM does not fly. Pac might actually die if they fight again.

I couldnt care less who won fights between Marquez and Pac as long as they are good fights.

Im just making a point about how close we were to never seeing those fights
