Beating Matthyse is easily high reward. He's seen by most as one of the most dangerous in the division and so far he's beaten the likes of judah, corley, olusegun, alexander and soto. Plus he's his mandatory.

Financially, Matthysse is very low reward.

Then wouldn't the same apply for Rigondeaux vs Donaire?

I agree with the sentiment of this thread but I think someone as dangerous as Matthysse need to get himself a belt before mnay people will consider fighting him. That in itself is Bull**** but because of the way the game is stacked these days mainly because of network execs thinking a undefeated record is the ****. Obviously we as fans want to see the best fights available but managers, promoters etc are all trying to protect there cash cow and the financial penalties for losing a challenging fight or any fight at all means that they are all gonna be looking for easy touches instead of the best matches.

He's not much of a draw at all. He also may very well knock Garcia's dick in the dirt, which wouldn't be very financially rewarding for Danny either.

A little different. Donaires last two fights were against virtual unknowns(to a US audience). They certainly didn't add more to the pot than Rigo would have.

Garcia is thought to potentially match up with Zab Judah next, in the new Barclay Center, Zab's home turf. Potentially a much bigger draw than Matthyse, who is not well known here(outside of us on these message forums).

As was mentioned anyway, Donaire has been ducking Rigo for a while now. Danny is one day off of fighting virtually a mandatory, one fight after becoming a champion, and already being accused of being a ducker.:patsch

what makes you think he's not much of a draw? Marquez might draw more than him, khan as well, but who else in the division would attract more fans and or a higher paycheck?

Rumour has it Garcia looking to fight zab judah next, which will be disappointing.

He's not. JMM, Khan, Zab in Brooklyn would all probably attract far more fans. Too bad for Lucas he's Argentinian because if he was Mexican he'd have a much bigger following and far more people would want to see this fight.

    +1.

Shame really as Garcia-Matthysse is THE fight to make at 140, theres alot of other good fights about, but thats the #1.

Can see Garcia milking out a couple more easier fights before being forced into the Matthysse fight eventually.

No disrespect, but do you realize that out of all of those names the only one who wasnt shot or old was khan

What am I basing what on?

There are far more Mexicans than Argentinians in the US and far more Mexicans period, and there are far more Mexican boxing fans... Most of whom love to see one of their dudes fight a Rican. Nobody gives a **** about an Argentina vs. Puerto Rico rivalry, and we're not talking about two big names here, so the only real selling point is a good matchup between two good fighters.
