I used to really rate him. He used to have that air of invincibility around him and he straight up destroyed people. As his career has carried on though I think he's damaging any legacy he has. He has achieved some great things, but I think the set up was there to pack out his resume which, looking back at what it could have been, is fairly weak. As he continues to fight, he drops further down any great lists in my eyes.
A joy to watch in his prime. ****ed him self up by sitting in that sauna too long to make weight for tarver 1 and was never the same again
A hard guy to figure. Breathtaking physical skills. Had the potential to be amongst THE GOATs in my book. Seems almost as defined by the fights he wouldn't take as the impressive things he did do. He gets a lot of flack, and much of it justified, for failing to fight some of the best of his generation in or around his weight. Flat out, some of those fights should have been made. The steroids thing calls much of his accomplishments into question. Seemed unphased by the questions surrounding his legacy, but for some reason continues fighting exponentially below the level he used too. Again, a tough dude to figure.
If Roy faught nunn, lilles, benn, eubank And calzaghe Retired after Ruiz Unbeaten There would be no discussion He'd be ahead of Robinson by a mile
Vhen vie analysise Jones vie must remember zhat he ist an abzolute fuking disgrace vith zie steroids and vie must also remember zie glass jaw zhat vas shattered on every continent.
I thought he was great and he is the reason why I became a boxing fan. If he retired after the Ruiz fight he could have been top 20 all time in my opinion, but the more he keeps fighting the more people will forget how great he was.
One of my all-time favorite fighters ever and easily one of the greatest fighters ever. I really wish he would have retired after Ruiz or at least after the second Tarver fight. What he has been doing lately is extremely hard to support.
I feel he was a fast, talented fighter who was on roids. His physique shrivelled in later years. How so?
A bloke who drew young kids to boxing and did wonders for the sport Almost Ali like in terms of positive publicity, Floyd Mayweather may have more money and a better record but for some reason I don't think his legend will ever be as strong as RJJ, But the longer RJJ continues to fight for the money he will hurt his legacy and him self.
