Do they need first aid certifications? Medical degrees? Is there a seminar that they take? Im shocked that Ive never given this much thought.

Bonus questions, what's the earliest example of a cutman in boxing? How did they decide on the regulation?

In todays game if you have a towel you can throw over your shoulder and have a few Q-tips you can put in your mouth, you're there!

I wonder what the ref would do if I get a job as a cutman and only use band-aids? Are band-aids against the rules?

You learn a lot if you pay attention to what goes on around you. You see people get cut in the gym- it happens, even with head gear- and somebody that knows take care of it and next time you know. If you work enough corners for enough rounds of sparring you learn how to reduce swelling with a cigarette lighter or a vaseline jar.

Some guys choose to make it their specialty and pursue more knowledge.
