Quigley will go a hell of a lot further I believe than Ogogo who will have to be matched very, very carefully. Maybe I am wrong just don't see anything special in Ogogo. Many rate him I am not convinced at all on what I have seen.
Quigley was ten time the amatuer that ogogo was and Quigley beat him twice easily when he was barely even a senior boxer Quigley is a top 3 prospect at middleweight , ogogo won't get past British level
That is a fact.:thumbsup The one thing I would add though Ogogo will be VERY carefully matched if he can convince enough people to get behind him he may get a fair bit further than British level. Why you may ask? I understand boxing is a business and as much about being protected than ability and can be engineered...Quigley I really like the look of made for the pro's.
True but are they going to go down the deontay wilder route? Win a soft bronze medel fight cans , get hyped to the heavens then get smashed to bits when he faces anyone half good and leave everyone down ? It's the business but fooling people isn't on
Very possibly and the general casual boxing fan can easily have the wool pulled over their eyes!Hype them, then sink or swim, cash out fights and done gone on since the annals of boxing has begun....
Very true, tbh his 'win' over khytrov at the Olympics was probebly the most disgraceful decision Iv ever seen
I don't think he's as bad as some are making out. People seem to neglect the fact that Wayne Reed is a half decent fighter, not your average journeyman. He didn't look as though he was going to set the world alight on Saturday, but other prospects have looked worse at that level, and gone on to achieve good things. The flurry at the end seemed combination of inexperience and desperation to impress. At seven fights in, it's far too early to draw such damning conclusions, especially whilst the guy's clearly still developing.
Getting british & European title fights will tell us a lot more than making judgements using the opposition he has been matched against so far
It's nt just one fight mate he was a very berate amateur who never beat a top amatuer unless he got a robbery His not looked good at all as a pro either so that's why people come to this conclusions it's not just 1 fight we're basing this on
It's not just the opposition so far he was a very average amatuer If that fight against khytrov had been in a pro ring he would have been knocked spark out in pissing time
Any ****** knows that amateur and pro boxing are different sports and being a great amateur does not mean pro success. Perfect example Henry Tillman, knocked Tyson out twice in Amateurs, Tyson blew him away less than one round in pros. Another is our very own Audley. Anyhow, too early to make too many proclamations about Ogogo, long way to go before we will know for sure. The rest is just speculation.
So being a **** amatuer and looking **** in the pros actually mean you could be really good? Hmm you must be very ******ed Ogogo is **** and will be working in subway in a few years
I do agree that some of his amateur performances may suggest that he may not reach great heights as a pro, but as we all know amateur success and pro success are not always positively correlated. I also understand that judgements are not being made simply on that fight, but there has been lots noise since about how poor he looks, more so than I've seen when he's fought previously. As it happens, I thought he looked awful in some of his earlier fights, but not quite so bad on Saturday. Perhaps I'm alone in that assessment, but to me all the sudden talk (not only this thread) about his bleak future seems to be poorly timed. Just my minority opinion.
This will be fun. What don't you agree with in my post? Do you think amateur and pro boxing are the same? I'll start off on an easy question for you.
