You say GGG's resume is average... But who has a better resume among the current middleweights? Nobody? Then his resume is not average period.

The division for most of the time of GGG's reign has been trash. His resume is full of no hopers like Wade Rosado Monroe Jr. and Proksa so yeah he might have the have the best resume at 160 but you have to take it in context it's like being the prettiest girl in a room full of ugly women it doesn't mean much. Especially when you put that same girl in a room full of dimes and it really shows how average she is.

I know the world title was once the real title but the moment they made a ‘super’ title it meant the world title had now become irrelevant.

Decent and pretty deep. A draw spoils it really. Had the fight been judged a W for Golovkin then I think that bumps the resume up to 'good' for the sake of having a P4P fighter on there

Not really, super was created thanks to Lewis, he didnt want to defend his title every 3 months so super was a clever way around it for both Lewis to keep the title and WBA get more sanctioning fees.
Like i said before, super title, at the very begining was a gift, not really something one fought for.

WBA made a right mess out of this but the more i read in to it, the more i think regular AND super were both legit titles and it sort of makes sense since super (or the equvalents - undisputed and unified) were awarded without a fight to someone like Nate Campbell in 2008 for being a champ with two other alphabets but not having any of the other two WBA belts, or the actual WBA champ (regular) after 5 succesfull defenses and/or unification with other alphabets, AND there still was an interim one too which is the second tier, mandatory spot.

In MW, regular became what everyones idea of interim is when Super (Golovkin) fought regular (Jacobs) and interim (Blanco 2016 / Ndam 2017) simply got scrapped.

Needless to say, Golovkin began defending his title in 2010, got “promoted” after succesfull defenses soon after, fight with Jacobs and scrapping of the reall interim belt happened only arround 2016/2017 which makes me think Golovkins run is legit.

**** me, I’m turning in to shadow111 with these sheets of text, this is so tangled up, I’m almost willing to join the “Golovkin defenses do not count” folk and focus on his 17 defenses of IBO instead :D

Lol it really seems like your tryna grant him those defences for free, people like Hopkins, Hagler and Monzon were never gifted a belt or even had a chance to fight for a regular belt. If I’m gunna give GGG that status of being a full champion, I would have to accept charr as a genuine world champ.

Golovkin's resume is mediocre, filled with leftovers, past it Euro level guys, 160 fringe contenders, 154 pound fringe contenders and journeymen also.

Trout and Lara won more clear rounds against Clenelo than Golovkin. Pirog beat Jacobs in a much more emphatic fashion than the controversial decision that Golovkin got over Jacobs. Golovkin is tough, in an extremely weak division that is only recently getting some talent, yet Golovkin prefers to continue fighting 154 pound fringe contenders instead of viable middleweight opponents.

How did he lose the second fight?

Kovalev was looking for a way out after getting put on rubbery legs from that right to the head by Ward in round 8

And kovalev can’t take it to the body, two lefts to the stomach doubled over kovalev....he was ready to quit

    Good stoppage

Pavlik did pretty well until the 9th when Martinez turned his face into a bloody mask. It was a one-point fight either way, or even, 4-4 or 5-3 Martinez, with a KD for Pavlik.

That kind of made Pavlik’s decline extra disappointing, as he went into survival mode when he was cut and it was a close fight.

I respect the above, but how can he possess an A legacy?

Surely the definition of an A legacy, would be a guy like SRL, who beat Duran, Hearns, Benitez and Hagler.

And then you want it to be upgraded to an A + if he retires undefeated?

    How so?

Surely it has to depend on when he retires and who else he goes on to beat?

He's a great fighter, but he hasn't got the resume to be rated that highly. There's nothing incredible about his resume.

His resume is ok for the modern era. He’s barely HOF but no where near ATG status
