I would say a low level hall of famer, definately deserves the hall of fame but I dont think theres enough prime big name wins on his resume. If Im honest I was never a real fan.
Ask all those guys who ducked him during his peak ... there's quite a few and DLH and Shane are among them.
I know you're a big MAB and EM fan so: It took 5 rounds for 35 year old Barrera to lose to Khan in a boxing match not a wrestling match. At the age of 29 EM lost to someone called Zahir Raheem and was declared shot. Tszyu was the only man to knock out Julio Cezar Chavez in the ring. Nuff said.
Good come back!:good we could do this all day long but it will get us nowhere. And JC Superstar was 157 yrs old when KT knocked him out
i think in real career(which is all we can go by) he is mid level...but i certainly think he could shake a few of the guys higher than him...does any1 think or remmember if any more high profile bxrs avoided him...i was on a holiday from life at the time and had dropped off my mags n didnt c a fight 4 cpl of yrs...
Why would DLH or Shane duck this dude, he is a B level fighter compared to those two. How come he never fought Quartey,Whitaker, or even a somewhat prime Chavez
Tszyu and DLH were suppose to fight, but Tszyu's loss to Phillips gave a reason for DLH not to fight him. In truth, I don't think DLH would have ever fought Tszyu as he may have been perceived as too dangerous (risk versus reward). If I remember correctly, DLH vacated the 140 lb. division at around the same time, and wanted to focus on the 147 lb. division. The Tszyu - DLH fight is one of the great matchups that unfortunately never happened. Quartey fought at 147 lbs. and 154 lbs., and he was in limbo for a while fighting only every 18 months or 2 years. Whitaker effectively retired after 1997. The thing about Chavez is pinpointing when his prime is. Tszyu didn't prime up until the late 1990's, and Chavez's prime looks to be in the early 1990's when Tszyu was just starting his carreer.
The only thing I can say about Tszyu and Shane Mosely never getting to fight is that Mosely went up to 147 lbs. as early as 1999, and stayed there or higher for the rest of his career. Tszyu basically fought his whole career at 140 lbs. I don't know how effective he would have been at higher weights due to his 5'7" stature.
