I'm pretty high on Martinez right now. He has impressed me in his last two fights. I like Cotto but I dont think he beats Paul or Martinez
Cotto wasnt elite? You're crazy, man. He was as elite as they get. He's resume is very good. He has some very respectable wins on it. You think a B level fighter can beat Mosley even now?
+1 The mosley/judah/corley/torres/clottey fights were all tough hard fights that he showed elite skills/heart in. Let alone how he handed Margarito before the surprising change in events as the fight wore on..... I'm not saying.... but i'm saying. We're talking about a guy who outboxed malignaggi and Mosley..... then went on to batter pacquiao's face the worst it has been.
how can anyone question cotto? he has the most stacked resume between 140-147 in recent history. the amount of champs he has fought between them two divisions is amazing. fukin amazing.
Only elite fighters can last almost twelve full rounds against Pacquiao... On another note, Cotto always seemed too muscular to me. That probably affected his mobility and his speed. He always looked so heavy in the ring. He is a very very good boxer, but he always wants to hurt his opponents. It s a shame really. He could have boxed comfortably to many of his victories.
He is very good, not great He was forced to change his style when he moved up, and his attitude He is physically, just as able if not more than he was when he faced Judah and Mosley He has had reality checks with Margo and Pac, and emotionally he may not be the same as he was.
I don't know... during chagaev and bewster 2, I was in awe of Wlad's jab. Probably because he is a giant heavyweight.
They are different, and delivered very different. I actually think when he throws it, Floyds jab is better than Cottos.
Floyd's is better for controlling range and making a fighter think, cotto's is better for doing damage and backing a guy up so he can corner him.
he was better stylistically the old way, prior margo. I think being more reserve doesn't suit him well since he isn't a huge guy with a reach advantage. Neither is he a speed or super slick, defensive boxer. His strength was his aggressive offense and non willingness to give up his ground. I think once he lost that his opponents no longer had something really to fear. I also believe he was stronger when he was doing more resistance training and has seemed to decline since fighting margo. His body used to look fuller. I think he is still good enough to compete at a high level.
