How do you think Jermain Taylor would have fare in the super six 4-5 years back???

I reckon he may have won the whole tournament. Its not as though the guy is shoddy, he simply cannot keep up the pace of an elite fighter that is all. He would have beat Froch prior to the super 6 without a doubt and i dont think he would have fought the way he did against A-Abraham, he would have had more confidence instead of being a shell. Thoughts...:huh

 

Jermaine Taylor is not finished in this super six, he had the hardest opening fight of all the contenders........!

He could of beat Aurthur Abraham, if the refferee was'nt also on Abraham's side...!

Abraham or however you spell is ****ing name.......cannot take body shots...!

There was a point in the fight, when Jermaine Taylor was smacking him to the body..and Abraham started to complain for no reason.......and the Reff warned Jermaine Taylor.

Jermaine Taylor for the rest of the fight, neglected the body attack..!

Which was vital mistake...!

 

5 years back he would have stood ward on his head, no doubt, he doesnt hav ethat pop any more where as before he could hurt you.

 

he's got ward then dirrell. those are winnable fights if he ever gets his act together and stops fighting like an absolute moron.

 

Jermaine is finished mate. That's a fact. You thought RRJ was still pound for pound before the Green fight didn't you? Let Jermaine go now and you won't experience the dissapointment you did over RRJ.

 

Jermaine Taylor is not finished, and i don't think Roy Jones is finished ethier....!

Pound for Pound and Skill for Skill..

Roy Jones is still the best fighter...! can still throw the best combinations/has the best co-ordination, and is more gifted than any other active boxer today......!

I don't think his last fight should of been stopped...!

 

He had great speed and some nice skills but i've never ever been overly convinced by Taylor. He was never really a huge fan of the sport and at times that has been shown up, He just never kicked on after becoming undisputed middleweight king, I think i couldn't take to him much because he was always forced upon us as the next big thing and the Hopkins victories never gave me the impression he was desperate to become a world champion.

The fact he gasses so bad seems a long term problem with him as does the inconsistency, Taylor was losing fights to us and winning them on judges scorecards. Yes he's a good fighter and a solid champion but not a great fighter in my books. I think he probably may of won a few fights in Super Six back then but i don't think he would of won it imo.

As for Ward-Taylor. Taylor is pretty much finished, People that say he isn't please remember he was broken down by Pavlik and look at the way he slumped with exhaustion. Then the Froch fight...you can tell me all you like Froch was getting schooled but Froch when he did land..landed hurtful nasty punches...he then again wilted in the last few rounds and again slumped to defeat in a draining fight. Then the Abraham fight yes he looked good but that's because anyone can look good against Abraham...Oral looked good for 5 rounds against Abraham...then he was savagely knocked out.

These losses mixed with the fact Taylor has already contemplated retirement and coming up against a young buck on crest of a wave..who really has all the tools to negate most of Taylor's strengths you have to be really optimistic to think he win's the WBA Super Middleweight Title. Ward has more to his skillset then Taylor, Taylor's a fast slick fighter but he doesn't have all the skills Wards has.

I think Taylor is mentally done, a bit like Hatton.

He has all the physical and technical attributes to beat any of these guys, but something seems to trigger in his head to cost him the fight......

Can't put a finger on it.

Not that well confronted with the same opponents. Taylor is fine with people that want to box with him, Fine, he can do that. He has a nice jab, double jab, athleticism.

It's when you take him into the trenches, start testing his chin and really pushing him to the edge physically that he comes apart. There was no indication he was going to lose to a skinny white guy called Kelly Pavlik. But Pavlik had that abundance.

He doesn't have the heart to come through in tough fights. It could be that he just doesn't want it as much as some others. As someone else pointed out he has never been in love with the sport which makes it that much more difficult to really dig in when you need to.

I quite fancied his skill to take him home the victor in his last couple of fights but I won't be making that mistake again.

Against the 5 opponents in the comp he may have beaten a few 5 years ago but even then I don't think he would have had the mental strength to come through as the overall winner.

Taylor's confidence has taking a beating....and it all stems back to his first defeat against Pavlik. He has never really recovered and boxing is as much psychological as it is physical. Obviously none of us really know his psyche going into a fight, only Jermain knows that, but he doesn't seem to have that belief anymore.

Taylor has the talent, we've seen that in the past, of course against Hopkins twice, not many men have beaten B-Hop and he's the only one to do it twice too.

Taylor can still won some fights in this Super Six, but it's a huge ask against Andre Ward, who looks a hell of a fighter. I just think it's the wrong time for Taylor to be facing Ward, he could do with a 'pick-me-up' fight before that really cos after 2 consecutive last round KO defeats, his confidence has gotta be shot!!

 

i think he would always struggle agaisnt anyone stronger than him. any legit top guy at 168lbs will beat him, basically everyone on the tourney.

also if he was undefeated coming of the hopkins fight, its unlikley he would enter a tournement.
