how does boxing become newsworthy again?

i dont think you can blame the boxers themselves for choosing an easier route if they know they havent the talent to get there by beating all comers. john ruiz (spelling) is a prime example of a fighter that learned by winning and losing. alex leapai is a fighter in a simmilar mould.

not many fighters have their courage though. you have pretenders like demori and welliver going the padded record route etc. but like i said, you cant really blame them. it is $ they are after, not the undisputed champ of the world. they could never win it....but they might luck a title and make some cash.

but thats what is ****ing the sport. it is total confusion. i dont even know how many world sanctioning bodies are out there anymore...a few weeks ago ippy said the demori fight wasnt for a title....suddenly demori has a bubblegum belt.....

sideshows like mundine and SBW get press because they are already newsworthy from another sport. green got there on boxing credentials.

but how do we get it back in the news? less titles. less champs. austin loves boxing as much as himself. that cant be denied. he would improve it if he could.

it is the ABC system that has been the cause of the demise of the publics respect for the sport and the confusion over who are the sports best fighters, or even who the champions are.

i mean, demori and welliver both have bubblegum belts, and lay claim as legit world title contenders. but us, the 0.1% of the public that know a bit about boxing, know they arent even the best in our reigon, let alone world title contenders.

the ABC's might rate them as it justifies their belts, rankings and as a governing body. if all boxers said 'no this is bull****, we wont fight for your bull**** titles anymore, we are going to start a union and create a real single champ for each division', then things would change. there is a lot of money involved, and there would be murder, litterally. but it would change things for the better.

ghandi is right, and TC was right to quote him. if boxers stop 'partaking' in bull**** title fights, then it would kill off the 'governing' bodies.

all that is really needed is a democratic union, made up of boxers world wide, to vote in their reigons representitive, who then form a single governing body, with 1 belt in each division.

their would be a constitution drawn up, and in that constitution it would say that in each reigon fighters would have to fight the best fighters their reigon has to offer before they are rated. the local governing body, that is elected by the boxers themselves, oversees that the champs of their reigons get rated with the world governing body, as they see fit.

it all must be democratic, from the boxers, right up to the CEO of the sport. it MUST start with the boxers. they must want the change and form the union. otherwise boxing will keep dying.
