My favorite HW to watch. His biggest loss was against The Big Mac. He should be in the hall of fame IMO.

I personally much preferred watching a peak Bowe fight than Lewis. Lewis never excited or flat out impressed me to be completely honest, I just could never really enjoy his fights because of it. Bowe (at his best) looked to be the better fighter skill-wise to me, even though other factors lead to Lewis becoming clearly the greater of the two.

A great measuring stick for the difference between a very good fighter, and a great one.

Bowe had some many qualities that you'd look for in an ideal fighter, but two or three glaring flaws that prevented him from ever really living up to what he could do.

Riddick was nice and big, and had a real loose powerfull style.

In his short peak, he definitely had the goods to fight anyone, but his problem was lack of disipline! He never took drug's, but he eat himself out of condition and sometimes that's worse! The provenance of bowe being a bit of a nutter - was his upbringing in brownsville brookyln, and his sister's murder.
The guy went so mad he wanted to join the marine's, with a diagnosis of brain damage!

I think Bowe was a tremendous fighter, but he ****ed up his career.

He could had fought Lennox, Tyson, Vitaly, Ibeabuchi, Byrd, Ruiz, Bruno, Tua, Wlad, Valuev, if he had kept his head in boxing, and end up a top 10 HW all time, maybe top 5.

He could have fought those guys. With his discipline and focus issues he'd probably be 5-4/4-5 against those guys. Not a top 10 all time guy.

Not neccessarily, his manager was just a money-grubbing *****. Lewis may indeed have had his number though.

    Charles,

How the hell can you have Bowe as your favorite fighter? Bowe was NOT a good image or belt holder for boxing... Bowe TRIED hard to amuse like a young Ali, but, it didn't really work in public... Bowe never controlled his weight, and when he actully became the World Champion, he allowed his manager Rock Newman to stage "High-Profile" fights with damn good pay on HBO against the likes of worn-out warriors like "Dokes & Ferguson," while passing by Lennox Lewis in 1993.... Bowe and Rock Newman made damn good money from the sport, but they robbed the fans; to a degree, by choosing lotsa' "Pick-Em" type opponents.... "Mathis, Donald & Hide" were not in Bowe's class, as fighters go.... Golota was SUPPOSE to be a easy victim for Bowe, but team Bowe found out otherwise.... Cheers......

Definitely an underrated fighter.. the hunger and dedication was not there anymore when he fought Golota.

Completely agree with this. Riddick Bowe, at his best, sure looked to be the best HW since Ali. It is truly a shame that he was not able to sustain that level of excellence. Had he, he would have likely become greater than Holyfield, Tyson and Lewis.

At his best he was one of the rare big men who are equally as good inside as they are outside and I believe h2h he's one of the greatets heavyweights of all time, by that I mean h2h I can only think of about 15-20 heavyweights that could beat him on his absolute best night
