People seriously need to give Bellew some credit for taking this fight. He could have easily retired with lots of money already made however he wants to test himself against the best. It's not about the money this time, it's about the belts and the legacy. It's a win win situation for him I've got tickets for this and can't wait for the fight where I will be cheering Bellew on to achieve the impossible. And if it does happen then people will say Usyk was over rated and STILL not give Bellew the credit.
He took the fight which maximises the PPV Mug money - Ward not very appealing and Whyte now taking his own PPV Pie
Bellew is sharing the ppv with Usyk, as Whyte done so v Parker. Whyte v Bellew does more ppv buys than Bellew v Usyk and with Ward he has a bigger name to the masses than Usyk, plus you would get more revenue from American TV.
If Bellew wins, Mark my words the narrative will be: "Well bredis already beat him and got robbed so he was exposed there and the super series lineup was actually overrated"
This Ward is american, can talk a bit, was in that rocky film with bellew, has beat froch... In short he's way more marketable than a bland eastern Euro saying how "very feel" he is. Bellew has taken the harder fight for less money with Usyk imo
Neither is deontay wilder. If you aren't Floyd or Alvarez the US don't give a ****. Eddie Hearn can sell anything to the matchroom mugs For bellew vs ward he'd probably get sly Stallone over to stand in the middle in the face off "Brought to you by creed 2"
No credit. Not even an inch. Nothing Bellew can do will let you say he is one the best British Fighters. Makes no sense. Stevenson is a long reigning champ who has yet to lose. You stated "he claimed to be King of a division". You said that, I never did, and Bellew is going to challenge the King of the Cruiser weight division. Why cant you give the dude credit. Boxing fans stay hating on warriors.
His best win is Makabu, which is a good win. There is some credit for him. I never said he was king of the CW division, I said HE did, which is why he doesn't get extra credit for fighting Usyk from me. He would have got credit for fighting in the WBSS or fighting Briedis but elected to do neither. The fact you think Stevenson has never lost before is reason enough to disregard the rest of your post. If your parameter for being 'best of British' is scraping past Chilemba, a good win over Makabu and then exorcising the ghost of Haye then that's on you, buddy. Bellew has had a better career than he ought to have but I'm not going to start calling him a legend or anything just for taking a fight he's not favourite in.
Come on man...triangle theorys are for maths class. Just cos Usyk shut Gas out and Tony is only slifgtly better than Gas (in your opinion), therefore Tony might pick up a couple of rds. Boxing doesn't work like that. It only took a slight bit of knowledge in 1 area and a slight improvement therein and the Gas fight could of been a whole different fight. I'm talking cutting off the ring here and ring generalmanship. Gas followed Usyk round all night like a puppy dog, his cutting off the ring in that fight was literally novice. Tony knows how to cut the ring off, he also has the primary weapon against a southpaw mover who circles away from his opponents back hand, the lead left hook. Ton y has a great left hook. I fully expect Tony to give a good account of himself here. He knows Usyk hasn't got massive power and will be up for this. Tony has a great boxing brain and will come up with a good game plan. Usyk wins imo but it will be a reasonably close fight. I expect Usyk to get hurt once or twice as well before he learns that he can't pull the basic stuff on our "Tone"
Some people will forever hate. I guess you need the supporters and haters to be great. I am not the biggest Tyson fan. but my voice and opinion is just as important as those that never give fighters credit. Its part of the game. Sometimes I wonder how boxing fans judge fighters. Cause I feel this celebrity culture has come into the game where no one views things objectively. Its all about do i as a fight fan personally like fighter X. I think some peo Lool , every fighter in boxing has lost at some point , Stevenson has one loss?, Whats wrong with having a loss? One loss after 20+ fights, and your still a champion, and your 41 ..... Boy, Stevenson is just trash I guess based on those facts, lol , and we know his name beacuse of his exciting lifestyle outside of the ring I guess?, His south paw left is putting people to sleep by fluke.........Anyways it aint about the WBC light heavyweight Champion Stevenson. Even that comment , "he had a better career then he ought have"..... Who are you to say that, right now he is a very successful and rich British boxer, who win or loses against a unified champ deserves credit. Dont give it to him. I am not a defender. I just know history will be kind to this man. I and many others will discuss this man for years to come. Enjoy your day bro.......
You said he hadn't lost. He has. I didn't say Stevenson was trash or anything close to the sort, so stop with that nonsense. I literally gave Bellew credit in my post. "I am not a defender" you're doing a damn fine impression of one.
