It’s Coldwell who’s going to put this plan together and to Bellew’s credit, he does listen to him and (mostly) follows his instructions. So the question really is, what would Coldwell’s plan be...what have his other fighters done when they’ve been outmatched by superior, P4P (in Inoue’s case) fighters. Jamie got sparked in half a round, Gavin worked hard and kept doing the same things but didn’t adapt against Roman and got sparked, too. His tactic against Haye 1 was to go into deep waters and even in Haye 2 he told Bellew to wait for a few rounds, not to exchange and work behind the jab. So from that, I don’t think he’s going to instruct Bellew to do a Callum Johnson and go for it from the opening bell. It’s not his style. I think he’s going to let Usyk settle into a rhythm, and for 8 rounds get Bellew to throw the same 2 shots (jab, straight right) & move off them in the same way, so that it’s predictable...setting the trap for a big hook. So basically, try and box him, set traps & hope for the best.
Man, my triangle theory wasn't the ultimate theory to explain the fight Usyk vs Bellew. Gassiev also has a damn good left hook and he landed absolutely nothing. And show me a fight where Bellew showed good ring iq vs a very very good and fast mover like Usyk. Bellew struggled to cut the ring vs Haye in the first fight and Haye is old, slow, shot and was injured. He did it better in the second fight although Haye was even more shot than in the first fight. And Haye was equal there till the first KD. Rewatch the Masternak fight. A basic fighter like Masterkank troubled Bellew a lot there. In the first three rounds Masternak moved quickly and Bellew looked like a moron there. Later between Rd 7-10 Masternak was also moving very well and attacking quickly and again Bellew looked lost. Overall he won yeah but if a guy like Masternak can trouble Bellew with smart moving and quick attacks...have fun with Usyk because with that kind of boxing he dominated Gassiev for 12 rounds. I can only laugh my ass off that people are thinking Bellew has more than a punchers chance. Bellew is a good boxer in general but very limited skillwise and plan wise, he only has one plan and Usyk will read him like an open book. This will be one sided like the Gassiev fight and maybe Usyk will stop Bellew with his work rate. I think Usyk could have stopped Gassiev in the last two or three rounds but he didn't want this as he knew Gassiev was still dangerous like a shot animal and has the power. The big difference to Bellew is: Bellew is afraid of getting hurt and once he is really hurt he will quit. I always knew you Brits are delusional but this is a joke. Bellew is nothing. Inactive for years now apart from two show fights vs an old shot glass body who needed the money. Like Bellew. Bellew wants his big last payday and he gets it. He is a part time boxer and Usyk is an ATG CW who will also rule the HW division as a Top 5 HW in the future if he goes up. Usyk probably would beat Bellew only with his right hand.
Gassiev was tailor made for Usyk. If you think that Usyk is going to shut out Tony or Tony will only win a round or two, then I'll see you back here after the fight. Well see then who has made the correct prediction. I'm a big fan of Usyk and I'm not really that keen on Tony tbh but respect is due. Tony has been in the game since he was a kid. He was in the international team and is a well experienced pro who knows boxing. I'm in no way suggesting Tony will beat Usyk but he will give a good account of himself I'm sure of that. I don't think you yanks understand what it means to be a Scouser.
Bellew's act of "having a screw loose" and being a "lunatic" has grown old, people who are lunatics aren't aware they have a screw loose, plus he says he told Usyk that "I don't quit" when has Usyk ever quit? He also said he's the first fighter Usyk has fought that genuinely believes they can win, which is absolute pish, I'm pretty sure Breidis and Gassiev, two unbeaten world champions, went into their fights with Usyk fully believing they could win also. He also never mentions the Adonis Stevenson fight, acting like it never happened, you could even say he quit in that fight tbh.
First, i am no yank, i am german and i have no problem to say our boxing scene is ****. Gassiev was tailor made for Usyk but still a lot of experts were picking Gassiev and the betting odds were 50/50 or even favoring Gassiev slightly. Afterwards it is always easy to say things like that. I made a topic here where i wrote couple of weeks before the fight that Usyk will absolutely dominate Gassiev from start to finish. And i am saying the same thing here. We will see. You can and will quote me anyway if i am wrong. So let's see...one month!
Come on, man. You guys are always blind if it comes to your fighters even if they are average. Bellew was hyped as **** because he beat OLD, SHOT, SLOW (and injured) David Haye twice ffs. Bellew had a good career at CW and he is a solid boxer, i give you that, i admitted it by myself in my last posting but let's be truth he hasn't anything to hurt Usyk here. He isn't punching harder than Gassiev, he showed flaws when it comes to fight vs well and quick moving guys (rewatch the Masternak fight, i said it before) and more important Bellew is afraid to get hit as he is a part time boxer right now, he is doing that for the cash as he wants to have a good life with his family for the rest of his life and his kids. It's a good thing but he has no business here. Usyk is real. P4P Top 5 and he will beat and jab the **** out of Tony B., i promise you that.
I dunno, I think you’re being a bit unfair stereotyping all British fans as blind to ‘average’ UK fighters. There’s not a U.K. fighter who doesn’t get picked apart on this forum by us lot. We recognise when one of our own is lacking certain qualities. We also applaud fighters from overseas including Usyk, GGG, Spence Jn, Canelo etc. I clearly rate Bellew more than you do but I’ve not said anywhere that he beats Usyk. He could beat him, nobody is unbeatable but the odds are stacked against him. One thing is for sure whether Bellew loses or whatever, Usyk is getting punched in the face by a scouser. Have it.
I love the way some mouths are jumping into the forum like everyone is giving Bellew a massive chance - can they not read!? Most people are giving him a small chance as he can whack, hasn't lost in a few years and is an experienced pro but its a considered opinion. On a skill v skill level, he doesn't have a great chance at all on paper but this is boxing if he can be patient not take damage, move around a bit, and set something up with the jab or whatever he might find a home for that left hook. I haven't seen loads of Usyk enough to know he's class but there was one fight earlier in his career where he did catch a lot of left hooks in the middle rounds. Probably nothing just a feature of the fight but who knows if that's something Toney will be looking for. I think most people think TB will lose but I bet he gives a good account of himself.
