    Quoted before the edit.

There was a reason why he was featherweight champion in the 40's for six years. But I'm sure the OP would slag off on him, too, if given the chance.

OP starts off thread with the intention of baiting and trolling forum. Thread backfires as OP is disproved and discredited point by point.

OP then proceeds to spout pseudo-intellectual babble.

    Pathetic.

Because a lot of people think that riding the "omg sugar ray robinson is the greatest boxer of all time" train will make them look like knowledgable boxing experts who have lived through the centuries...... the same thing is true with people who rank jack johnson and sam langford as better punchers than lewis or tyson.

I'm not saying sugar ray robinson and those guys weren't great, he was definitely great for his time, but what pisses me off is that some guys who yell that he's the greatest of all time probably didn't even have the patience to watch half his fights. Some just hear from some nostalgic old trainers and fans that he's the greatest so they go along with it, thinking that it'll make them look older and more knowledgable....... and when you go against them they'll say "oh you haven't been around long enough to know his greatness", lol wtf? :hey

Some will say he's the greatest because they read it on ring magazine or whatever, and they don't give a **** that the "experts" who make those rankings are usually heavily biased in favour of fighters from the past. Either way alot of the people who go around yelling "sugar ray robinson is the greatest of all time" haven't even seen him fight :-((

    It's quite funny actually.

Sugar Ray Robinson? 95% of everyone's opposition is bums! Are you crazy?

A fighter fights bums and then fights contenders, then champions right?

    Well most opponents aren't contenders.

SRR was like a 5 time lineal champ was he not?

To be honest OP is used to think this exact same thing until I watched a few documentaries about him and his fights then I was convinced....

Oh yes he would. And sometimes hes taking the best with 10 days between fight. Even as champ fought more than 10 times a year. Keep fighting,,, was training. Insane. SRR on a good camp to prep would wipe clean 147 to 160 without changing his weight.

Hes thr Goat im my opinion...But that just an opinion i made after watching his fight footage i could find, and watching ponud for pound documentary. Its on utube watch it.

Same goes to you. You obviously did not watch enough footage and all the documentaries on him. What he did with the amount of time he fought is great. Alot of people on here are more hardcore fan of the whole boxing history than the tyson, paquiao exciting effect. And for that reason, everyone who question SRR greatness, let me tell you now....you dont know ****.
